BBC Radio Solent live interview with radio host Alun Newman. The BBC explores some of the key questions relevant to ordinary people. Why were German workers enjoying an average wage more than £500 higher than those in the UK in 2008? And why has this wage gap grown to a staggering £4,000 by 2020? Why is the present generation for the first time not doing better than the previous generation? Richard Werner explains why inflation is high, why wages are not keeping up, why business is suffering, why Germany has been doing far better, why productivity has been low, and why establishing community banks is the answer - starting with the Hampshire Community Bank headquartered in Winchester, ready to submit its authorisation application. Alun Newman wasn't expecting such a comprehensive answer, with a clearly identifiable "number one issue": the UK suffers from a concentrated banking system and small community banks urgently need to be introduced which only lend in their local, geographically restricted area. The interview took place on the morning of 21 March 2023 in Hampshire.
