I'm old, I remember teacher telling me off for doing air guitar every time this came on, TV musicians were brilliant in that era 😀

This track also played out the very last CEEFAX broadcast in October 2012. They knew how iconic it was and actually it was quite an emotional moment for those who like that sort of thing.

Takes me back to childhood memories. I was at junior school in the late 70s and remember Bart by Ruby with the countdown clock. Now in my early fifties!

Brings back memories, laid on the settee poorly with my lucazade looking at the TV through the yellow crinkly cellophane ha ha

As the "dots" vanished, we all used to pretend we were shooting them using our "finger guns"..

Thank you so, so much for uploading this, the soundtrack to a many a blissful day of sofa ridden, off-school, convalescence . I am so grateful to have heard this one more time. My musical tastes have expanded a little since the late 70's when this little tune became a small part of my life, but I have never forgotten it. I have over the years attempted to hear every album by either Wishbone Ash or the Allman Brothers Band because in my memory, they were the closest stylistically, to what I remembered hearing. Hearing it again, now this evening, I realise with Wishbone Ash, I wasn't that wide of the mark, but it' still too melodic and breezy for them and although Andy Powell did write incidental music for the BBC, as far as I know this isn't one of his. But thank you again.

I used to enjoy being home from school with a cold or a cough or chicken pox so that I could sit on the settee with a blanket and watch schools programmes. Ahhh those were the days....

Such a memorable piece of music! Who was it by and what is it called. I heard it so many times at school, I even wrote my own lyrics for it. Funky rock.. love it.

It's called Bart by Ruby. Seems to be synonymous with Ceefax.

@thelyniezian I think that's awesome! It's people like you doing stuff like that which is important, preserving the bits of television history we took for granted so much!
