Still have to pinch myself that I flew on it; August 1996 to JFK, returning on it three days later. What a trip. What an aircraft.

What a blessing to the history of aviation. I could watch this non-stop.

I enjoy listening to John Hutchinson talk about the Concorde. A captain’s captain, and a quintessential English gentleman. The FO also became a fine captain.

Indeed so. The FO indeed featured in another video of this series as Capt. Chris Norris. You could see from his smug face he was quite pleased with his Captain’s landing. To be able to fly manually from 3000 feet in inclement weather while talking us through it on camera is quite an achievement and done with much poise and confidence. On the list of crew featured in a later video series his name appears simply as John Hutchinson..what humility!

My father helped build this at filton. He’s still alive. And very proud.

And so he should be, as well as all the others of this great project.

I've seen interviews with Captain John Hutchinson after Concorde retired and he even admitted that for about a year or so he was a 'grumpy old man' because he wasn't flying Concorde. I can't believe this plane is gone. It should remain flying as a testament to human intelligence and spirit.

I nearly did it. Concorde to America and the QE2 back to Southampton. It was a bucket of money ( 14000 to go and 14000 back for 2 people) I chickened out and to this day I kick myself for not going.. sigh.. ah well.

I remember seeing this, and always thought adding Sirius at the end, to majestic air to air footage was just right, made the spine tingle, masterpiece that would have made Alan Parsons very proud. Damn that it cuts off here and we only get part of it.

As many others have commented (on similar videos): how sad it is that we can’t do something that we could do 20 or 30 or so years ago :(

pilotadam This reversal is happening right across all forms of endeavour,food production,research,across the board industrial closure.I live in a country that exists by exporting food and primary production.Our land is now being covered in immigrant’s homes and infrastructure.Increasingly we have to import vegetables and foodstuffs to make up a shortfall.Very stupid and sad.

What is stopping BAC and maybe Airbus creating a Concorde Type 2? Literally just can copy and paste the original design and use advancement in technology to extend the range

Capt. Hutchinson, a veteran Pilot and a true Master of Concorde. He should have even knighted together with the other heroes who braved it with the press and Politicians to make Concorde accepted by the public at large…or it might have withered into oblivion.
There is not, and long will not be, such a beautiful plane as the Concorde. All countries in the world invest huge sums of armaments to protect themselves from adventurers who like wars. Air communication should be improved and flight times shortened. This will bring enormous economic benefits to the world.

Delta wing swirl ? I've seen that vortex coming off lots of planes...
@Samuel-gc6js Жыл бұрын
Concorde uses Vortex lift to generate lift at low speed. Concorde wings only starts acting like a normal wing at around 280 knots

I thought "...heavy" meant - full of passengers, not large aircraft. Can't think how I believed this...
@samborlon4 жыл бұрын
"Heavy" is added to the call sign when an airplane's maximum takeoff weight is 300,000 pounds or more.

But with concorde was always labelled as heavey due to the air disruption on landing and on take off which is really what it warns of.
