Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan says there were people who doubted she was qualified to lead when she first became head of state because she was a woman.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Africa's Salim Kikeke, President Suluhu also spoke about her Covid-19 strategy, growing the economy and democracy in Tanzania.

Wow. Her excellency Suluhu Hassan good work. I know you will govern that country well. Male or female is the clothing God gave us but the spirit man has no gender and no one should undermine a mother who has kept her home in order to fail to put her nation together. For the vaccine TZ, East Africa, African children can make our own and we let the poor western world deal with theirs. Covid organics was a good start. Its easy to become a leader but most importantly is how to stand firm, proactive,smart intelligent and mostly visionary and trusting God faithfully. We need you deliver by ensuring energy is efficiently run all the country. Tanesco can't run all the production, installation and distribution. In words she is good, practically we don't see the white smoke. Go down the streets and up country they will tell you the reality, -is no better. A good leader is the one who is not good in words, rather a doer, visionary and focused. We got an example of a typical visionary leader down our time who did it very fine The Late Dr. John Magufuli.
