बांग्लादेश के बंगबंधु संग्रहालय ने कई राष्ट्राध्यक्षों की मेज़बानी की है. शेख़ हसीना के प्रधानमंत्री पद से हटने के बाद यहां तोड़-फोड़ और आग़जनी की गई थी. बांग्लादेश की आज़ादी में प्रमुख योगदान देने वाले व्यक्ति के स्मारक के ख़िलाफ़ आक्रोश ने कई लोगों को झकझोर कर रख दिया. बीते शुक्रवार को, उनकी 50वीं पुण्यतिथि के एक दिन बाद, संग्रहालय के अवशेषों को देखने के लिए बड़ी संख्या में आम नागरिक उमड़ पहुंचे. इस मौक़े पर बीबीसी संवाददाता जुगल पुरोहित और देबलिन रॉय ने वहां पहुंचे लोगों से बातचीत की.
