I think it would be more transparent to explain the root of issue that starts pre-independence and got worse after the Congress government denied every promise that they make with sikh leaders before merge them to India . Indira gandhi took worst decisions to economically suppress Punjab in all ways.. that’s how the Khalistan movement started

ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਆਗੂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਥਿਓਡੋਰ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 1860 ਚ ਹੰਗਰੀ ਚ ਹੋਈਆ। ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਪੜਾਈ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਭਵਿਖ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਗਾ। ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਖਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਗਾ। ਪਹਿਲਾ ਲੇਖ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਲੇਖ ਸੀ ( " ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ" ) ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯੂਰਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲ ਚਲ ਮਚਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਅਮੀਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਕਤ ਹੋਈ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਇਹ ਕੱਲ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਕ ਮਰਵਾਵੇਗਾ!! ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਪਸੰਦ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਲੱਭ ਲਈ ਸੀ। ਅਕਸਰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਰਦਾ " ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹਾਂਗਾ, ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਜਣਗੇ। (ਭਾਵ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਚ) ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੌਮੀ ਭਵਿਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ, ਫ਼ਰਾਂਸ, ਜਰਮਨੀ, ਓਟੋਮਨ ( ਹੁਣ ਤੁਰਕੀ) ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀਆ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਾਰ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥ ਮੁੜਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੱਸਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜੋ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਓਨਿਜ਼ਮ ਲਹਿਰ ਬਣ ਗਈ। ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਚ ਖਿੰਡੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ਕੱਟ ਰਹੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਬੁਲਾਈ. ਬਹੁਤ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ 250 ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਪੁੱਜੇ। ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ 199 ਨਾਮ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਫੋਟੋ ਵਿੱਚ 162. ਸਭ ਤੋ ਵੱਧ ਰੂਸੀ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਡਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਭਾ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਦਾ ਮੀਲ ਪੱਥਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਈ। ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਅਕਸਰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ, ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਅਗਲੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੇਗੀ। 1904 ਚ 44 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਚ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੋ ਚੱਲ ਵਸਿਆ. ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋੰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਦਿਸੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਜ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ!! ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਦਿਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਆਈਆਂ। ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਵਿਛਾਈ ਪਟੜੀ ਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਇੰਜਣ ਐਸਾ ਭਜਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਧੀ ਸਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਇਸਰਾਈਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਗੁਲਾਮ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਜਿਦੋ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋਏ ਤਾ ਸਭ ਤੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ Austria ਚੋ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਪਟ ਕੇ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬੜੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਨਾਮੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਦੀਪ ਬਾਈ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੀ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਵਰਗਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਿਆਂ ਤਕਰੀਰਾਂ, ਕੌਮੀ ਦਰਦ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਘਾਲਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਭ ਹਰਜ਼ਲ ਵਾਂਗ। ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੌਮੀ ਚੇਤਨਤਾ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਧੱਕਾ ਲਗਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੀਪ ਬਾਈ ਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਵੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਣਾ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਦੀਪ ਬਾਈ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਉਲੀਕ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੁਮ ਹਮਾ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਜੋ।

There are always two sides to the story, although this presentation describes everything that is quite precise, but it's just following one way that didn't describe all the atrocities and riots that happened in the aftermath that had no association with this political game but it was just victimization of people in the name of politics. Until and unless these political parties should stop the politics of Divide and including societies learn to respect and value all the religions as whole, there will be a divide that will be left for both the communities with different perspectives. We can't make the entire population think in a broader way to understand that this world and universe is much more than religion and politics, and we are just a tiny fraction of this enormous universe. At least our education system and corrupt media should focus on universal thinking among societies.

Rehan Fazal you are telling half truth.Promises were made to the Sikh leaders but never kept by Nehru and Gandhi. When country was divided, who suffered the most? Sikhs and Bengalis. Two million people got butchered, men, women and children. The Hindu press of Jallandhar started calling Sikhs, criminals. Absolutely no help to settle in the new place. Read the autobiography by Dr. M.S Randhawa. States were being organized on linguistic basis but when it came to Punjab, people, mostly Hindus were asked to betray their mother tongue. The Sikh grievances were never resolved but made more complicated. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale never asked for Khalistan, not once. He was just asking for Anandpur Sahib Resolution. RAw and Third agency created these problems so that Indira Gandhi could stay in Power.(Dead Men Tell no tale, article in Surya Magazine 1984) Leaders are supposed to resolve the problems not to create.

Concept of Countries was invented in Europe in the 18th century. Before the invention of the concept of countries, there were only empires and kingdoms. Turkey was created after the fall of the Ottomans empire. Dozens of countries were created based on nationalities after the fall of the Ottomans empire. Saudi Arabia was created in 1932 after the fall of Ottomans Empire in 1921. Saudi Arabia didn't exist When Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca. Italy was created in 1860 by merging various small kingdoms of Italian nationality. Similarly, Germany was created in 1871 by merging various small kingdoms of German nationality. Similarly, all European countries were created based on nationalities. Now the question is what is nation and nationality? A nation is a society that shares a common language, culture, and history and has shared interests. For example English, German, Italian, Turkish, French, Russian, Dutch, Spanish, Arabs, Persian, Kurds, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, kashmiri, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Malyalam, Thai etc are nations and a country based on single nation or nationality is called a nation state. Most countries in Europe or 'civilised world' are based on single nationalities and are nation states or simply called nations. There are dozens of nations within India and Pakistan. And hence India and Pakistan are union of nations or multinational countries. Nations are Punjab, Kashmir, sindh, Baluchistan, Gujarat, Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu etc. And in modern civilised world countries are created on basis of nationality like the countries in Europe (England, France, Germany, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Croatia etc) or in Asia (Korea, Japan, China,Thailand, Philippines etc) and Bangladesh etc are countries based on nationalities. Republic of India was created in 1947 out of the British Indian empire on the basis of two nations bogus theory. Two nations were assumed as Islam and hindusim. But in reality, Islam and Hinduism are not nations. India and Pakistan were not created based on nationalities but on two nation (Islam Hinduism) bogus theory. Hence, these countries are based on religions. On the other hand, Bangladesh is a nation state which was created on the basis of Bangla nationality in 1971. Three predominant civilisations in Republic of India, Indo Aryans, Dravidian and Sino Tibetic ( North East nations in the Republic of India) don't share anything although the first two civilisations share religion hence religion is the biggest binding force of the country followed by Military Power which is used to occupy non Hindu nations (Punjab, Kashmir, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya) with the country Punjab should be a free country based on Punjabi nationality like Bangladesh. But Hindu Punjabis and Muslims punjabi don't want to leave india and Pakistan, so we Punjabi Sikhs can't force them to follow us. Hindu Punjabis, who had deserted Punjabi language in 1951 and 1961 census by declaring Hindi as their mother tongue would never support a Punjabi nation state. They support a Indian state based on the Hindu religion. Similarly, Punjabi Muslims of Pakistan dont support Punjabi nation state either. They support Pakistan state that is based on Islam religion. Similarly, Bengali Hindus don't support Bangla nation state Bangladesh and want to live in India which is based on Hinduism. So Punjabi muslims, Punjabi Hindus, and Bengali Hindus are free to stay in their respective countries based on religions. But similar to Bangla Muslims of East Pakistan, who created Bangla nation state Bangladesh without Indian Bengali Hindus, Sikhs have the right to create Azad Punjab (a Punjabi nation state) without Punjabi Hindus and Punjabi Muslims. As simple as that. We Punjabi Sikhs have no problem living in a Punjabi Muslims or Punjabi Hindu majority Punjabi nation state but they don't support nation state unlike modern civilised world but a state based on religion. The Punjabi speaker population of Muslims is around 10 crore. Punjabi speaking population of Hindus is around 3 crore (Punjabi Hindus in Punjab, Himchal, Haryana, Jammu and Delhi). For example Punjab and Panchnad for the region of five rivers and Sapt Sindhu for the region of 7 rivers. Arab for the region of Arab population. Similarly European had their historical region names. British annexed them to British Indian empire and later on India illegally occupied them with Republic of India created in 1947

Concept of Countries was invented in Europe in the 18th century. Before the invention of the concept of countries, there were only empires and kingdoms. Turkey was created after the fall of the Ottomans empire. Dozens of countries were created based on nationalities after the fall of the Ottomans empire. Saudi Arabia was created in 1932 after the fall of Ottomans Empire in 1921. Saudi Arabia didn't exist When Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca. Italy was created in 1860 by merging various small kingdoms of Italian nationality. Similarly, Germany was created in 1871 by merging various small kingdoms of German nationality. Similarly, all European countries were created based on nationalities. Now the question is what is nation and nationality? A nation is a society that shares a common language, culture, and history and has shared interests. For example English, German, Italian, Turkish, French, Russian, Dutch, Spanish, Arabs, Persian, Kurds, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, kashmiri, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Malyalam, Thai etc are nations and a country based on single nation or nationality is called a nation state. Most countries in Europe or 'civilised world' are based on single nationalities and are nation states or simply called nations. There are dozens of nations within India and Pakistan. And hence India and Pakistan are union of nations or multinational countries. Nations are Punjab, Kashmir, sindh, Baluchistan, Gujarat, Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu etc. And in modern civilised world countries are created on basis of nationality like the countries in Europe (England, France, Germany, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Croatia etc) or in Asia (Korea, Japan, China,Thailand, Philippines etc) and Bangladesh etc are countries based on nationalities. Republic of India was created in 1947 out of the British Indian empire on the basis of two nations bogus theory. Two nations were assumed as Islam and hindusim. But in reality, Islam and Hinduism are not nations. India and Pakistan were not created based on nationalities but on two nation (Islam Hinduism) bogus theory. Hence, these countries are based on religions. On the other hand, Bangladesh is a nation state which was created on the basis of Bangla nationality in 1971. Three predominant civilisations in Republic of India, Indo Aryans, Dravidian and Sino Tibetic ( North East nations in the Republic of India) don't share anything although the first two civilisations share religion hence religion is the biggest binding force of the country followed by Military Power which is used to occupy non Hindu nations (Punjab, Kashmir, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya) with the country Punjab should be a free country based on Punjabi nationality like Bangladesh. But Hindu Punjabis and Muslims punjabi don't want to leave india and Pakistan, so we Punjabi Sikhs can't force them to follow us. Hindu Punjabis, who had deserted Punjabi language in 1951 and 1961 census by declaring Hindi as their mother tongue would never support a Punjabi nation state. They support a Indian state based on the Hindu religion. Similarly, Punjabi Muslims of Pakistan dont support Punjabi nation state either. They support Pakistan state that is based on Islam religion. Similarly, Bengali Hindus don't support Bangla nation state Bangladesh and want to live in India which is based on Hinduism. So Punjabi muslims, Punjabi Hindus, and Bengali Hindus are free to stay in their respective countries based on religions. But similar to Bangla Muslims of East Pakistan, who created Bangla nation state Bangladesh without Indian Bengali Hindus, Sikhs have the right to create Azad Punjab (a Punjabi nation state) without Punjabi Hindus and Punjabi Muslims. As simple as that. We Punjabi Sikhs have no problem living in a Punjabi Muslims or Punjabi Hindu majority Punjabi nation state but they don't support nation state unlike modern civilised world but a state based on religion.
