Makes sense if you're looking to sell them but, if you buy raw, you can get it for 25% of the graded price, so even if you're fooled 2x, you're still 50% ahead...I almost got swindled once, but once I felt the card stock and compared it to a same manufacturer and year card, I was certain...so I complained, got my $ refunded, kept the fake in my binder, bought another and keep that one in a 1 touch...and still came out ahead $$$ wise

I’m a collector who doesn’t feel the need to go after the big flashy autographs or gem mint cards. I just like what I like, not for the value now or down the road. It bothers me that the hobby is so driven by card values. I guess I’m old school in that I like collecting my favorite players’ cards because I enjoy baseball.

I enjoy collecting lower grade vintage cards. Seeing a pin hole or fuzzy corners adds character to the card. It also allows me to own cards I would never dreamed of owning. I personally have no desire for graded cards and don't own any. Then again, I don't sell my stuff. Its for my own personal enjoyment.

I agree with everyone having an opinion. One thing that I stand by though is I never try to say anything negative about anyone in a video or comment post. Some people think that their way is the only way whether in sports cards or even in life. One thing with graded cards is that they are great to ensure counterfeits aren't being sold as the real thing. There are so many "scammers" out there (there have been since the 80s). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and Happy Collecting!

This was a lot of fun to watch! My personal opinion, around 04 they started mass producing many different kinds of parallels and 1/1’s so for me, the earlier 90’s inserts are super fun to collect and are special. With that being said, if I still had a binder of Clemens moments and milestone 1/1’s....it would still be cool! Haha

Awesome talk guys. Subject matter is great. I'm into graded cards myself and I won't buy from the 2 big consignors because of what is out there in the news. I am with you on vintage, I like a little character on my vintage cards. As far as the PEDs issues... if it's illegal I don't condone doing it. But that's just the way I was brought up. Now as for sports.... they are playing a sport for us to watch in enjoyment. Just let em be.

Oh man! A lot to touch on in this video. I love graded (PSA) cards! Although, I don’t own very many because I don’t want to pay a premium for a card that’s always going to be with me. I don’t need a PSA 10 to show off to other collectors. Therefore, I don’t necessarily go out of my way to purchase graded cards. The only time I do is when it’s a really good price and it’s of a player I collect. Parallel cards are getting a little out of hand, I will NEVER put together a rainbow, because I find it a bit ridiculous to have 10 of the same cards just a different color. I think it would be MUCH more fun if each parallel had the player in maybe a batting pose for the /199 and a throwing pose for the /99 and celebration pose for the /10 etc. etc. As for home run leaders, hit kings, and things alike, I go by statistics, of its in the formal record book that Bonds is the HR king, then Bonds IS the HR King. Great video guys!

Great talk guys! I agree 100% we all have our own opinions and that's what makes it so fun! To debate about a player's career or which cards are their RC cards are the essence of the hobby! For me graded cards were an avenue to go down when you are looking for a third party opinion on what condition a vintage card was in...which determines a price point based on others like it in circulation. It also provided me with some assurances the card was what we thought it was in terms of authenticity. With what's going on right now obviously there is a gray cloud over the TPGs...however I believe the majority of the cards graded are legit. If a 60+ year old card has 4 sharp corners and very little edge wear and tear I automatically become wary...these were meant to be enjoyed by kids back then and not put into top loaders and screw downs...so if the card looks mint I don't want it. Give me the beat up creased vintage card over a nice one any day!!! These cards are the ones with stories to tell! Like I said...that's just my opinion :) Have a great day fellas!!

I am fighting off stage 4 kidney cancer and this really keeps my mind occupied. I obviously enjoy graded cards because I simply like the way they look displayed. That is how I enjoy the hobby every day when I look at my collection. I personally think there is certainly a place for TPGs regardless of slab gate. There is no way I want to go back to buying raw cards online and feel confident in that. TPGs make cards more liquid in my opinion because they have already looked at them...especially when most of us buy online. The TPGs certainly have some work to do but I still think we are better off with them.

Different opinions are good. I like low grade vintage, I dont do graded cards other than buying something that’s more likely to be counterfeit; and then I bust it out. EXCEPT my Jordan RC. Bonds is a cheater. Thanks for sharing guys!
@BaseballCardJunkiesTV
@BaseballCardJunkiesTV 5 жыл бұрын
Just curious what your point of view is (being so adamant that "Bonds is a cheater") about the players that SUPPOSEDLY didn't use steroids, but ABSOLUTELY must've KNOWN their teammates were using steroids...? Certainly knowledge of other players "cheating" and not saying anything would make them "cheaters" by being a passive accomplice right...? And by that rationale, NO PLAYER DURING THE STEROID ERA should be in the hall of fame as they are all guilty of some form of cheating. Just something to chew on... Thanks for watching! ~Eric #TitanicTaters
@LegendsNeverDieCollection
@LegendsNeverDieCollection 5 жыл бұрын
Bonds tested positive for PEDs in November 2000, and February 2001, therefore he cheated. Until one of the known users gets in, I have the same stance: none of them should be in the HOF- and they should be labeled as cheaters. That includes David Ortiz, who people tend to overlook/forget about because he is so beloved around baseball.
@LegendsNeverDieCollection
@LegendsNeverDieCollection 5 жыл бұрын
In no way did I implicate, nor would I try to argue that anyone’s awareness of others taking steroids as guilt. Bonds had his own choice to make (just as every other individual did) and chose to take PEDs.
@BaseballCardJunkiesTV
@BaseballCardJunkiesTV 5 жыл бұрын
You must have misunderstood my question... I never said you implicated anyone. I asked if you would consider a player KNOWING another player used steroids, but not speaking up, also a form of cheating? In the court of law, that player would certainly be implicated as an accessory after the fact, if not absolutely an accessory to the crime. Example, Griffey Jr must have known that Jay Buhner was using steroids... if Griffey Jr didn't actually use them himself. They are too good of friends for him not to know. Half of the Mariners roster was on steroids. Same goes for Rickey Henderson, again, assuming he DIDN'T use steroids, he certainly would've known that, at the very least, Canseco and McGwire were using. I'd even take the step to say if a player knows his teammate is using steroids and didn't say anything it's probably because he was also using.... anyway, just my 2 cents
@LegendsNeverDieCollection
@LegendsNeverDieCollection 5 жыл бұрын
I did misunderstand your question, I apologize for that. So you’re saying you think that should be the logic players should be judged on? That if they knew someone was using and didn’t give them up, they are guilty by association/as an accomplice to the “crime”? I will say I’ve never heard that one before. I think that’s silly though. The majority of the league at that time would be “guilty” by those standards. That just seems like an extreme point of view created to say “they all are guilty, let the users in”. Seems far-fetched to me. Just my two cents on that viewpoint.

Imo i hate how the new breakers literally dont care about anything but autos. They will pause on a relic for half a beat but almost treat everything like a base card if there isnt a name scribbled on it. I miss the days of several different inserts that got rarer and rarer and had cool designs. Autos are cool but some treat it as the only "hit" and it kinda gets boring

Good chat guys! My strong unpopular opinion is that all of the supposedly clean players of the steroid era are just as culpable as the PED users. Baseball is a team game and if you have knowledge of cheating and condone it because it benefits you and your team then you're also a cheater and your accomplishments are just as tainted as theirs. I can count on 1 hand the number of guys that had something to say when their was PED use in their own locker room so I don't care to hear them speak up after the fact. No one has clean hands and I won't judge some without judging them all. But that's just my opinion and no one has to agree with it.....😁
