Hi,BBC English.Could you get across the meaning of the frasal verb:,,to be thrown by". The entire sentence is:" How many people are thrown by this question."On Google I digged out different meanings.Gratitude without an end to you.

And there is one question more: How to use the verb -to drop? Wich of these sentences are correct:1) I dropped the price of this commodity. 2) The price of this commodity dropped.? Thanks a lot!

Well, I can not see Neil today, the fact that Beth and Georgie are presenting the programme is a good proof that women put in more hours and pick up the slack :)

(pick up the slack) - Hi! I am running out of time with my report about statistics. - Can you pick up the slack? - Yep, I can do the part of the report which you have not done yet. (Drive a trend) - Are we driving a trend of being self-employed members of the company right now? - Yeah, you are definitely right, we are rock. (Put in) If I were you, I would put in both efforts and time to prepare for the IELTS exam. While you are procrastinating, someone else puts in hard work and reach consistency towards their goals in life.

Due to these current boiling weather conditions, my family has driven the trend for much air-conditioning utilization. However, every member of my family has to put in more money to pay the electric bill this month. Therefore, I usually pick up the slack for colleagues in work shifts.

Work smarter, not harder. During lockdown, there was plenty of time to figure out how to invest your time wisely. When the lockdown restrictions were lifted and everything back to "normal" it was easy to make money without working long hours.

👋 Hello Sujin! They are very similar, but with slightly different nuances. 'Has gone off' sounds like the milk recently went bad, whereas if you use 'is off', the focus is more on the state of the milk itself.
