@GaspoweR2 жыл бұрын
How tf are people saying that this is autotuned. Are they confusing the backing vocals or something 😂 Theres literally other live performances you can check out where she is literally singing it in closed settings with no backing vocals and she still sounds incredible.

@@Safetysealed I assumed it was a stylistic choice (I'm not familiar with the artist).
@adriandevine59552 жыл бұрын
@@Safetysealed Are you sure? I never heard her before I saw this vid (although have watched it about 10 times now). I now think it's actually the way she's singing that's reminiscent of autotune in places. There's obviously the vocoder bits, but the rest of it sounds like her rather than processing. And there are parts that sound like autotune isn't being used (i.e. the pitch isn't spot on). I suppose it could be being switched in and out, but I don't think so. I certainly don't claim to have the best ears, but I'm going to have to agree with @Simon Prunty - I think she's controlling her voice in a really interesting way and I think it works really well (on this track at least). So where's this bridge?!

She’s the prove that you can actually be in your 30s and be thriving. It’s sad how many people believe that if you’re not a teen you can’t make it big or make amazing things with your life. (I mean she does look fucking 22 lmao).
@clumsysandbocks56502 жыл бұрын
To be fair she established an audience with Chairlift before this, but I agree with the sentiment.
@moteldemoka2 жыл бұрын
What kind of ageist sentiment is this lol? Is anyone saying you have to be in your 20’s to be successful in music? Most classic albums in rock and pop were composed by musicians in their 30s. Classic jazz albums were composed by musicians way past 30. Hip hop and electronica is usually younger but there’s hundreds of examples of influential albums in those genres also made by people in their 30’s and beyond.
@clumsysandbocks56502 жыл бұрын
@@moteldemoka I think the point is that it is harder to establish yourself as an artist in your 30s. A lot of the records you mention were likely created by musicians who had been a part of the industry in their 20s. If you enter the industry in your 30s you have to develop contacts, compete with a younger generation, risk financial instability later in life, etc. The original comment and I were arguing that people can make it in their 30s though, so we're all in agreement anyway.

Rumour has it that one time Oloff was sat next to Jar Jar Binks on a flight. Jar Jar kept kicking the chair in front of him and generally being obnoxious, nobody knew what to do. Eventually one of the flight attendants came over and asked Oloff if he would perform one of his songs to calm Jar Jar down, and when Oloff began rapping the first verse to Doing It Stealthy, Jar Jar immediately relaxed. To this day the two are still close friends.
