I love the bunnymen, probably my favourite band of all time and this is fine as a live performance considering how long the band have been going. What I don’t get is the decision to re record the classics. Not one of the new versions comes close to the originals for me, largely due to the vocals .
@davidb20956 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. The new versions aren't good. Ian can't sing too well anymore, as painful as it is to say. I know a lot of bands are re-recording because they own the rights to these recordings, having been screwed out of the profits by the record labels the first time 'round. Not sure of Echo's and Korova's arrangement, though.

All my future ex wives were there but I was so entranced with the sound and scene I couldn't speak to anyone that night. My city died in 2020 months after that venue died, no subtle coincidence. Thanks for this it's on loop here LOUD in foothills of the PNW
Not that bad. Sure, 2:37 is rough. And he's kinda pitchy here and there - a bit sharp every time he says "horses" (0:34, 1:20, 2:29), and "heard" at 1:31, but most of the rest he nails pretty well. Just needs to be more consistent. Btw, one thing he definitely hasn't lost is the way he sings the word "heart". There's always been a sort of plaintive quality to it, and a sweetness. And I always love hearing it. (3:01, 3:05)...

I find it funny to see comments about Ian's voice here. I really like his hoarse voice and I don’t see any problem because it doesn’t sound anymore like the voice he had when he was younger. Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Keith Richards and John Lee Hooker just to name a few are artists who have a great hoarse voice and who I admire a lot. Ian McCulloch is perfecting his voice, one day it will sound just like Tom Waits's, thank God.
@daword2500 Жыл бұрын
Have to say I feel for Mac, something went wrong somewhere. Ian, imho, was one of the three best and most important male singers of the 'post-punk' period, the other two being Billy MacKenzie and Ian Curtis - all three being matchless, phenomenal singers. Mac's singing style and ability then was like nothing before or since - equally true of the other two singers also, but those who say, many here, that he is still as good are either stuck in sentiment or simply don't know what they're talking about. Nonetheless I live in hope that we may yet still see more from him and Will that matches the quality and power of their first (ahem, crucial) three albums.
