The rhythm and tempo are basically the same of both songs, the signature driving beat of Motown. ABC's When Smokey Sings fits the same characteristics. I've performed these as a medley on saxophone.

I loved this! What generosity of spirit to dovetail these two songs together! And, what a magnificent performance.... The world would be a sadder place without these two Georges! George, I absolutely love the skid marks and trail tracks in your voice that tell a story far beyond a song and that echoes my own life... Culture Club: the way you rev into a song is without measure and that's what appealed to me when I was just a kid. And every one of your magnificent backing singers would not be there without the change you made in the world! They have talent beyond measure but that would have been ignored were it not for Culture Club! George Michael, Adam Lambert, Amy Winehouse, Queen Latifah, John Legend, Lady Gaga.... none of them would have existed without you.

Haters can say what they must, but anyone w clarity can see how glorious this is. Boy's voice only seems to strengthen ( I hope it's the haters who are fueling his return to form He's showing them up fuck yeah) over time. And the band is so on top of this. And at the end of it is just joy and fun. I wish I was there. But I guess I was cuz I'm always there in spirit when George brings his wit, talent, style, and general coolness to any event

John Wihebrink I grew up with Boy George and Culture Club, and finally, at 48 years old, got to see them live. Just sorry it took me this long to appreciate, and really love their music. Doesn’t matter if George is gay or not. Next to Culture Club, Freddie Mercury was my other Favorite. Like you said, let the haters hate. He’s still a great artist, and getting better.

Once upon a time just ONE backing vocalist being the superb Miss Helen Terry and now 4 backing vocalists and nowhere near the same effect of brilliance.

I'm here because I've been binging on Helen Terry's songs. What a voice! Someone on a Fleetwood Mac video mentioned Christine McVie as the most soulful sounding white woman from the UK. And while I've always loved and been a huge fan of Christine's voice and every song she sang, I told them they needed to hear Ms Helen Terry!

There is just NO ONE who do backing vocals on this like like HELEN TERRY!
@FranklySpeaking.6 жыл бұрын
Smart creative mashup. Having said that, and being a huge Boy George (& CC) fan in the 80's, I miss that velvety tone he had when he sang. This just goes to show you that smoking destroys singer's voices. Yes aging is a factor, but nothing will deplete a singer's voice and breath control like smoking. Such a shame he ever started...who knows how good he could still sound today! And anyone that says or thinks his voice is in good shape need only go & listen to his amazing vocals of the early 80's to see that his beautiful tone is long gone. The band still has their chops, albeit with a LOT of backing support. There was a time when it would be just the band onstage, with a small horn section and 1 backup singer..the incomparable Helen Terry. And they kicked ass! THAT is the Culture Club I remember and miss terribly!
@lessismore85335 жыл бұрын
Amazing comment! I wasnt born until 1991 I wouldve loved to have seen CC in the 80s. You're lucky. And yes BGs young voice was awesome! I think I prefer his young voice in all songs except maybe Victims, Everything I Own, and Church. Those still work today. Georges older voice fits certain songs he covered such as "Wonderful World" but I still prefer his younger voice. I dunno. I heard in an interview hes content with his sound now which is I guess all that matters. But I still feel sorry for his potential.

@@dawngoodgrove4819 I know. I would have loved him. It was HIM who was making all the wonderful music. I sat and watched it on tv with my very straight mom in 83. She saw him with all the makeup and heard his wonderful music and voice and said, he’s probably a good looking young man too. Oh, she was so right. As some one who had grown up being made fun of, I understand how the remarks he heard growing up could have affected him. I have also known a hurt that would cause out of the box behavior on my part.After I was older and resolved a couple of things, I still had the imperfect scars. I was never involved in a homosexual relationship but Well, I guess we all feel like we wished we had had more faith in Jesus.
