Even if the constitution and parliament was from Assad, that is anything but comforting news-this new "leader" was the leader of a rebel group of fighters, no one seems to know anything about (such as if they are hardliner Muslims fundamentalists) and no one ran a campaign to be voted for so he wasnt voted in. Im thinking this could be another Taliban-ran Afghanistan kind of situation.

That is expected. Shortly after Cory became President of the Philippines after the 1986 People Power revolution, the 1972 Martial Law Constitution was junker. 9:37 A new one was drafted by a commission the submitted to the people and proposed to the people and it was overwhelmingly approved in a national referendum. In the interim, all public officials were removed from office and caretaker officials were appointed. But after the approval of the new constitution, democratic elections took place. The transition from a dictatorship to a full fledged democracy was not entirely smooth. Some military faction attempted to depose Cory Aquino in a series of coup d etats. Thank God none succeeded. Ever since, Philippine democracy has been stable. I hope the post assad Syria will be governed by a duly elected government. By the people. For the people. They have suffered enough.

Syria is not liberated; it is sold after years of misery imposed by US backed civil war and US sanction. The people were so desperate they would accept anything. Good luck to the Arab world, wish you could go back to your golden age 800 years ago. Good luck to Syria, may Allah protect you.
