In America they build houses mostly with wood. Why don't they use concrete. I never heard of a house fire in Italy. Any house new or old ,is built with bricks and mortar and concrete. Wood is not used whatsoever.

Houses in California have to be earthquake proof. However, while very expensive, it is possible to build houses which are both fireproof and earthquake proof. Steel frames, with external fireproof cladding and non flammable insulation. However, these fires seem to have been so intense that the heat was able to enter houses and set the interior furniture alight, even before the exterior of the house itself caught fire.

In the UK we had a historic event known as the Great fire of London! After this there where new rules on buildings and materials used back in 1667 to prevent the spread of fire, yes its not the same but the majority of buildings in the US use wood, I've seen it in hurricane struck places and flood prone places and the sense is that it is cheaper to replace so ok but good luck getting insurance once its happened to your home, why are the properties not made from brick or stone, metal and follow rules such as they did in London to prevent fire spreading?

@@astra-rb6sz cool I remember from school it starting in a bakery in brick lane and my daughter learned about it herself at school few years ago, as a project during half term all the kids had to make a tudor house, he made ours from a few old cardboard boxes and I bought something like 500 lolly sticks 🤣 and tissue paper, I hand stained all the lolly sticks ebony black took 4 or 5 coats and used the tissue paper and pva glue to imitate the wattle and daub type plaster they used, I even printed out stain glass and cut them out and fitted them to the windows it came out brilliant, the idea was the school was going to set fire to them all together to simulate the great fire but my daughter was so fond of it she wouldn't let them burn it and she still has it in her bedroom, I didn't know the King came out to help put out the fires though so thanks for the info I shall tell my daughter in the morning! Strange how sometimes something devastating has to happen before change is made and I think back in 1667 it was almost unprecedented to bring in such rules but it probably saved thousands of homes and businesses as it would have happened again and again if change wasn't brought in!

Pity Americans. Billions Dollar send every month to UKRAINE & ISRAEL to aid the allies. Yet many in- house issues not resolved. Poor fire systems, poor water systems, poor incidents management, poor Safety Prevention. Only American communiies helped each other. Milton & Helene strucks churches first go on the ground & the communities. Wildfires & Hurricanes were not managed properly. Where are the high tech USA Militaries ? In this critical period none of them appeared of the ground. During Helene & Milton Hurricane only 1000 USA Militaries on the ground to rescue. Where were the USA Militaries? Because they are too much concern on the foreign deployments with Worldwide Military bases & use the high tech in the Foreign Wars which called it Fake Peace Missions. Yet with these incidents happened none of them turned up. So, the USA Militaries are useless & not even functioning and serving the Americans.

With all the money LA has, they should future proof the edges of all the communities near the forest. Including fire-suppressant materials, such as dry powder, foam, water, or carbon dioxide. Insurance companies will definitely sponsor in-ground pipes, swale, natural water trenches, etc. Start a pilot project and hopefully fire proof all residential areas all around US and the world. Losing precious lives and trees like this is a trendy to all humankind.
