Shortly after her ascension to the throne, Queen Elizabeth was faced with a fast-changing empire as colonies in Africa gained independence and became republics.
Even at a young age, the Queen then used her charm and influence to get the newly independent nations to remain within the commonwealth.
In Ghana a royal dance with the country’s first president helped the Queen to cement relations and set a precedent for other African countries.

@@humnnn I think "hate" is also sort of like a fad, since a decade before covid more of the dirt in the past of the nation have been dug out so it affects the people as a whole, sort of. I admire the Queen for having protected many from falling into the diabolisation that could have buried under its thick stench the great things the nation achieved.

Despite Queen Elizebeth was sent persuade Ghana of not being close to ''Soviet Union/Communism''. She fell in love with Ghana, the people, the cultures, rich and might civilization. At the end she was a human and women and wanted to genuinly dance with a Kwame Nkruma a man she respected and admired. Its was jelous old elites that didnt like seeing a white female dance with a african male.

Ghana gained independence from colonial rule in 1957. Once again, a journalist has totally misunderstood what a Commonwealth Realm is. Between 1957 and 1960, Elizabeth II had been Queen of Ghana entirely separately from her positions as Queen of the UK, Queen of Canada, Queen of Papua New Guinea, etc. One person, many different offices. When Ghana became a republic, it gained no more independence than it already had. It merely replaced an nonpartisan constitutional monarch with a political president.

Look, there were forces in the United States against Kennedy's helping Nkrumah. Kennedy also liked Nkrumah very much. I am sure the Queen also added diplomatic weight for those who could stop funding of the project to let go. I don't think it is far-fetched. The Akosombo dam itself was a brainchild of the British colonial government.

Philip broke the news to the new queen.]]" --- Wikipedia NOBODY REMEMBERS, that the Queen ascended into power whilst in Kenya---slap-bang in the middle of her own State of Emergency in her bloody war against the LIBERATION OF KENYA... How do you know that? He probably persuaded some people in the United States who were against Kennedy assisting Nkrumah. She must had added some diplomatic pressure. True - however look how she has treated the Queen and the stress she and Harry has added to her in the last year until she looks so frail. This monarch who gave her much privileges than she did with Catherine; yet she and her husband went on Oprah and told so much lies and caused so a huge divide among our nation. If she hadn't entered the royal family, none of what we are seeing and hearing now both nationally and internationally (including attacks on the monarchy itself, of which the Queen is head of) would NEVER have happened. This is why it is so PAINFUL to see how the Queen has physically deteriorated so quickly within a year. It is so heart-rending. As much as I forgive MM and H for what they did, they STILL owe a PUBLIC (yes, PUBLIC apology to both the UK, their fathers and families for all the damages they have caused. They lied PUBLICLY - they should apologise PUBLICLY - if not, they will continue to experience many detrimental consequences and they will reap what they have sown, if not their children BECAUSE of their own doing and actions. So I say, CONGRATULATIONS to the monarch for her long reign of 70yrs and may she enjoy her remaining twilight years with joy, that God will have her to live. She is a blessed lady indeed.

@@veronicaross5044 just bcos the Queen was nice to Meghan Markle doesn't mean she should sit down for the racist institution in the palace and the media to kill her like they did Princess Diana. Meghan Markle spoke her truth about how she was feeling living in the palace bcos people were wondering why she left. She was not happy how she was being treated. She have only one life to live ok

Nonsense. Princess Anne gave her a lot of support and advice, none of which she followed. King Charles walked her down the aisle when she didn’t invite her family save her mother. She wanted to be a celebrity and that’s not what the Royals are.

In the era of the Queen, fewer and fewer countries identified with the Commonwealth. Dancing with you and expelling the colonialists can happen at the same time.

The Commonwealth has grown to 54 countries currently with countries from non British backgrounds also joining. Do some research before espousing nonsense.

@@PeterG1975 Except for a few white regimes that recognize the Queen as the head of state, others are just drinking coffee with you British, and no one will recognize your colonial rule. You should clear your head, your so-called Commonwealth expansion is simply add a few more chairs for drinking coffee together.

Colonisation has been of great benefit to the world spreading knowledge and technology. When the Romans colonised Britain some bad things happened but on balance it was of great benefit. What have the British/Romans ever done for us?

Queen Elizabeth met the blackest of African leaders and peoples, and had a blast in her life, so when Meghan Markle paints her as some vile racist, I will allude to these people she had met. Even Robert Mugabe like the Queen. These leaders felt she was a great person distinct from her duties as the head of the British Empire.
