We already have the power, just like any other EU country, to not allow non-Britains to abuse our healthcare system. If you don't believe me, look up German healthcare law for residents. If you move to the UK without the means to support yourself you can be deported. Leaving the EU won't help the NHS, in fact Nigel Farage has stated he thinks it should be privatised, so what's his real motivation for using HIV patients as reasons for his Brexit?
@purplemonkeyelephant5 жыл бұрын
@J A Hennessy Well, no country in the world can stop people overstaying on a tourist visa. You could fly to America tomorrow and just never fly home. How on earth would leaving the EU fix that? And if you disagree with my points, maybe provide some evidence. I have sources for all my claims if you want them. My point is that we have all the powers we need to fix the problems you talk about already, we just don't enact them. Don't just believe me, look it up. Also, have you ever looked at the paperwork for requesting benefits? The first things they'll ask for is ID, National Insurance etc. You don't just wander in and get free cash. If you don't have these documents you could either be committing fraud, or be an illegal immigrant. Do you really think our welfare service just throws cash at criminals?
@purplemonkeyelephant5 жыл бұрын
@J A Hennessy Well, assuming what you're saying is true (evidence required) one motivation for doing that might be applying for asylum. They might think that having no documents will trick the UK into believing a false story, however fraudulent asylum claims will get you two years in prison and deportation. This up to UK Immigration to determine, and if you think the UK Border Force just roll out a red carpet for people who simply just got rid of all their documents, well, that's a bit insulting to the people that train for years for the role to weed out the truth. Regardless, this has got nothing to do with the EU, as if they have no documents then they can't claim anything an EU citizen would, so how is this relevant to Brexit?
@purplemonkeyelephant5 жыл бұрын
@J A Hennessy Ok, please explain the legal process that someone without any documents would go through to get benefits if they've just washed up on the beach as you say. How would one go about it? Ask your partner if you're not sure, very interested to know.

What has happened a bunch of spivs and chancers hijacked that position for a right wing agenda and saw it as a get- rich- quick scheme. All the EU countries are still suffering. My biggest fault was not realising that, at the end of the day, Farage is just a Tory, without much of a vision for this country.

@@MrResearcher122He is a right-wing, wealth accruing at any cost, carpet bagger! The UK’s membership was entirely financially advantageous, though largely squandered by Toryism. What they want and still are angling for is a de-regulatory re-set to a Singapore on the Thames economy, where the 1% the Rees Moggs still get to offshore loot and evade tax, the middle squeezed (as is happening) and the poor have even more brutish and short exitances. the part that killed it for me was when he said I just want to live in a normal country. we are so conditioned by the government and eu that we don't even realise what a bizarre mish-mash the eu truly is. the rest of the world cannot even comprehend why it is even a close call....there are few countries outside of Europe that would ever vote for this form of union let alone an economy the size of the UK. it is just an utter no brainer. love Europe and it's people. hate the eu. your vote counts do not sit back and let this opportunity pass you by. VOTE LEAVE

Well, love him or hate him, you can't wrong-foot him. He always has an answer, and a convincing one, at that.

Andrew Marr is out of his depth here. Farage has far more knowledge regarding Finance than Marr. Farage is the only one of our politicians who has ever had a "proper" job. He made a lot of money and he knows what he is talking about.

it's 2023, this video is 6 years old, practically all of the comments are praising farage, yet let's face it, they didn't age well, all of the UK really is, and I mean it, a VERY BONKERS nation, just wow

Did you know Marr is on £400,00 a year. Thanks Farage for letting us know because the Brit public pay his salary. This pompous snobbery Britain stuff needs to go. That includes the Monarchy. His salary is way to high!!! Farage is a very smart guy. I agree with everything he says completely, despite Marr being the typical headline guy as Farage puts it. Farage tells things the way they are. As for Marr, not worth even half of the salary he is on. Stupid questions and simply not intelligent enough. Yes we need to control immigration. It's obvious!!! Do we want people coming to the UK and getting health service and not contributing anything to our economy. The NHS is not a bottomless pit Marr!!!!! Although the British public are too stupid to realise this. It is not being racist people. it is about controls. That's why the EU was a STUPID idea. Nice in theory but put into practice with out thought or planning. Evidence of this is the fact that there was no mention of a country even exiting the EU. The people that are the EU bosses are making a killing out of it. Corruption behind closed doors. The sooner we leave the EU the better

Has the BBC, stopped employing impartial interviewers ? I really think the licence fee should be discussed, in regards is it value for money when they are not broadcasting the true facts ? The people of this country should boycott the licence fee en masse and refuse to pay it. It's also time they became a media like all the other channels and start adverts to get your money.

I am all for brexit, after doing extensive research and watching endless talks and debates i really do believe leaving is what UK needs. !!!! IMPORTANT !!!!! >>> However UK leaves EU and Scotland decides to leave UK and rejoin EU i think that is the worst possible outcome!!! ... wheat are people thoughts in this? .... specially from those who live in Scotland but im wanting to get peoples point of view from across UK.

If you think it is better to break apart from a whole (EU) and stand on your own (UK) then following the same train of thought it should be better when UK would break apart so that England could stand on its own. If you think the conclusion is wrong then that is because the premise is wrong.

@@ramthorus Scot nats think they will be "free" if they can get out of the UK (where they have a strong voice) and be ruled by the EU instead (where they would have NO voice). Morons.

Yeah, and not to put to fine a point on it non of us ever elected or voted for Teresa May, either, she was just "popped" into place as PM without either the permission or any consultation with the British people!

Andrew Marr has done a terrible job here, dredging up out of context comment from three years ago. When he tries to smear Nigel he loses his objectivity. Shame
