Watch Hayley Atwell : The Story So Far on BBC iPlayer in the UK: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...
Hayley Atwell joins BBC Radio 1's film critic Ali Plumb to talk about her starring role in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One alongside Tom Cruise. Hayley also looks back on her life as Marvel's Agent Peggy Carter with Captain America and the Avengers, and she reveals some of her hidden gems from stage and screen. Plus, she does a killer David Bowie impression... sort of.

Ali Plumb is by far the best interviewer in the world. No one, not a single other journalist or host can make an interview look as natural, effortless, genuine and at the same time interesting, truly captivating. Hayley is always terrific too. Could not agree more. For me, it's Ali's ability to joke & have a good time with these celebrities like he's known them forever & always ask them great, interesting questions. Way too many interviewers try to get humor, but it ends up being cringey. Ali makes it feel organic & natural, like a conversation with an old friend. I've never met anyone famous, so I'd probably end up looking like a babbling, stuttering fanboy just running into them on the street, let alone trying to have a coherent conversation.

Agent Carter was a great series, even the prologue where she was having to push through Male chauvinism. And don't even get me started on Agents of Shield. Apart from one or two episodes, it's one of, if not the, best Sci-Fi series out there, even now, and we all know that Quake should have been an Avenger. But it's exactly what he should have said, to emphasize the next part. Being insanely proud of someone you don't know is a little stalkery and a little human-in-the-best-possible-way. We reserve that intensity of feeling for people we know when, in actuality, it's not uncommon to feel it for strangers performing onscreen or onstage. It's not mean or condescending to feel proud of someone you have seen go from costume drama to MCU to M:I movies, but it does feel a bit strange. Kind of like you might be overstepping a boundary.

Finally she's in big film as the main caracter. I really like her since Agent Carter series hahahh I spent several hours of my life watching her dubbing videos for Instagram with the Agents of Shield cast. She's always seems fun. I'm super happy that she joined my favourite action franchise.

She is magic in this movie. Such great charisma, and chemistry with Tom Cruise. If they’re setting her up to lead the IMF team after Tom/Ethan Hunt retires or dies to save the world in the next movie, she’ll do an amazing job

@@buki3009 have you seen the movie? And her performance? I think the Mission Impossible should end when Tom Cruise no longer wants to do them, but IF they use Hayley Atwell as a way to keep the franchise going, it won't bomb because of switching to a female lead.

@@Mububban23 i have seen the movie, she was outstanding, beautiful and the chemistry between her and tom was perfect, however, she is not ethan hunt, she is not tom cruise, at some point we will have to learn.

@@buki3009 Agreed. No one can take over for Tom. Because it's not *just* about the character of Ethan. It's about it being Tom Cruise, his charisma and the crazy stunts he does and all that. The franchise can live on but it won't be the same once Tom leaves. Just like Rocky/Creed isn't the same without a fight-ready Stallone. It would have to turn into something like James Bond where they change it up but then reboot it as well.

I am quite surprised at how well she can act (more of me not knowing her that much on top of her Agent Carter roles). Those micro emotions, that jawline, the accent, she has got everything Sandra Bullock has plus she is just starting.

Check out an early Hayley Atwell performance from the 2010 television miniseries of Ken Follett's novel 'The Pillars of the Earth'. No spoiler alert here other to say an excellent period piece from the 12th century in which Hayley Atwell portrays Lady Aliena. Great cast indeed, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Matthew MacFadyen, Eddie Redmayne, Donald Sutherland and a whole lot of incredible actors and actresses. Even a cameo by the author himself, Ken Follett....🏰 It's an 8 episode miniseries than runs about 6hrs.?(about 45min. per episode) Follett based this on The Anarchy/The White Ship period of English history. This is a great story, filmed incredibly, sets - some built from scratch, costumes that fit the time period, military hardware as well. In my mind a complete A+ miniseries, of which introduced me to Hayley Atwell and I haven't stopped watching this very talented actress.👍
