This is a beautiful home, clearly painstakingly designed and so much work has gone in to the remodelling. Congratulations!

You can't beat a Georgian home. They are so flexible in terms of how you can use and decorate. Built to last. People visibly relax and become more themselves in Georgian spaces , everything is calibrated around the proportions of the human body.

Not my cup of tea. It seems these furnishings will go out of fashion too quickly and the place will look old in a year or two. Maybe they will enjoy decorating again but I feel a traditional treatment suits these houses better with some modern pieces thrown in for contrast.
@chrisy67073 жыл бұрын
@Bill Miller , your comment makes no sense. 20 years is nothing for a Georgian house. Remember woodchip and panelled doors in the 70s? They all fell out of fashion and looked ugly after time. A Colefax and Fowler look blending English country house and contemporary styling seems to work best for these homes in my opinion. Anything too modern or flash is yesterdays trend in a short space of time.

I love homes that are completely inconspicuous from the outside. So that passers buy have no idea of the fabulous home within behind the plain front door. Also, 200 years ago it would not have been has beautiful and light has it is today. So why look back.
@samanthasmith618 ай бұрын
200 years ago would be the regency esque, it would be this light lol, especially for townhouse it's always minimal and brightly coloured unless it was owned by really rich person then it would be heavier a lot of gilding a lot of expensive tapestry and a lot bigger

Edinburgh is a crowded city just like London seems very hard to find a home with garden or green yard.

Like every city centre. So they have parks everywhere. Go a mile out of city centre and there are gardens everywhere with mostly every house in Edinburgh 🙂

@tommoncrieff11544 жыл бұрын
Yes. Especially in Scotland which is already damp and can be bone-penetratingly cold. You fill a hot steamy bath, the steam permeates the bed linen and then you climb into damp sheets that feel wet and become freezing overnight.

Maybe I’m just too trad but the decor seems to be more suited to a mod loft in NYC. Some of it looked like upscale ikea showrooms? I get they don’t want a stuffy old look but even an Art Deco style would have been classy and sleek
@janoginski55572 жыл бұрын
Hi Marla, I would go further than that, it’s rubbish, there is no sense of the aesthetic in this offering whatsoever. It has been cobbled together by an individual who has zero idea on creating a beautiful interior. Is this a reflection on the lack of culture in Scotland, in my experience the answer is yes. Totally bereft of an artistic eye, all seems to be related to being “new”, I’m afraid it’s a poverty of mind.
