Most Hong Kong people in UK dislike Sunak Rishi because he obviously not cared and loved Hongkong as Boris Johnson and Liz Truss did, because Hong Kong is the British heritage but not an Indian guy. She seems to know her own mind and knows her reasons. I prefer someone who is up front not sneaky and seeking power without properly informed consent through stealth, as the present government sometimes seems to practice. I am in a mixed National marriage and my experience is it allows a more rounded perspective of the world as a whole. She can be patronising sometimes but that is part of her sense of humour and no-body is perfect! Pleased I have read two of the books in the reading list, about to find no 3.

My takeaway (as a committed, but open-minded and reasonable, leftie): 1. When something goes wrong, she will shrug, unless soldiers with guns or lynch mobs are involved. 2. She appears to value freedom of speech, and has stated her support for the ECHR, but this doesn’t appear to include the freedom of the media to question her statements. Anyone who has studied ‘freedom’ even at the most basic level, knows that my freedom=your chains, and there is really no freedom in reality. Kemi doesn’t seem to know as much about it as the interviewers, all she does is muddy the argument. 3. Her favourite law is the law of diminishing returns - I would have thought it was the second law of thermodynamics. It’s a rather negative view of the world, although to be fair, it isn’t explored properly. 4. She thinks her party ought to be unified and under firm control - this from the person who was admonished by the Speaker of the House for leaking to the telegraph, and has engaged in public spats with Braverman, Dorries and David Tennant off the telly. She has managed to keep this side of herself out of the limelight during the campaign. I think the Tories lost out when deselecting Cleverley - he at least demonstrated some statecraft and appeared more middle-of-the-road to me. I suspect he will return to the spotlight, in around 3 years’ time . . . .
