Very intelligent. It's fascinating that he comes at film from both a business and artistic stand point. He's willing to understand that it's a business and money must be made, but once the film begins shooting, he must then find a way for it become a piece of artistic expression. It's unbelievable how he continues doing this with each film, especially in today's over saturated marketplace.

Love how people are still so divided over Legend. I'm a kid of the 80s and I grew up with it and so i have a deep warm nostalgic love for it as much i have for say, He-Man & Thundercats. It was a part of my childhood, and as a child, i loved it's simplicity, the fantasy element & it's breathtaking imagery. I watch it now and have such respect for a truly beautiful film that is devoid of ANY CGI and still looks as breathtaking as it did when i was 10 yrs old seeing it at my local Odeon cinema.

Enjoy this man's work while he's here because once he's gone there will never be another like him. Old school directors like him are becoming increasingly rare in this hyper all style no substance culture we live in.

Every Oscar show should just start with an oscar for Ridley.... even if he hasn't made a movie that year

At the height of his powers Scott made 4 truly special movies.the duellists, legend, blade runner and alien. For me these were pure Scott movies, very nearly perfect in every way, visually and story wise etc.his career after that was very hit and miss for some reason.....but still a very talented man.

@Statistic100 love all of them especially bladerunner ridley scott is one of my favourite directors and the truman show, very original. you must be a stanley kubrick fan this i would assume because i am. if your not i would recommend 2001 a space odyssey im sure you have seen it but if not you should because it is one of the greatest films ever made and the famous jump or match cut not sure which one it is (bone thrown in the air then cut to space station) is truly a work born of pure genius

@AMBat3rdrock I've seen a lot of films and I can see that there is no way to offically say what my top five are, because it changes every hour depending on what mood I'm in. I like a lot of real hard hitting films but right now I would say; Predator, The Truman Show, Alien, Bladerunner and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

funny that he doesn't think that bladerunner isn't considered a success by box office standards, when it fact its a certified classic and has tremendously influenced sci-fi cinema.

It's just a fact, it didn't make money. Thats irrelevant to how good a movie it is

@Statistic100 Thats great you should keep it up im trying to do at least one thing everyday that brings me a step closer and i would like to get into college to study film but my options are quite limited. london film academy have some amazing courses for professionals and people with little to no experience but they are quite expensive you should take a look at them though. do you have any favourite films?

@reviewreviewer1 Both KOH and Legend were ruined by Hollywood interference. If you watch the directors cuts, they are 100X better.

in a more recent interview rid states he "couldn't care less" what critics of prometheus think of it. since that time, millions of caviling fans have repined, and he now receives hundreds of thousands of begging requests that he reprise prometheus in a sequel. preferably upside down and in mandarin this time, to provide even further provocation of curiosity and thought. ridley says he'll think about it.
