My mother is just like this. She will rattle on about some lunch she had for about 20 minutes, and the fact that the cafe she went to had toilets and as many hundreds-and-thousands (sprinkles) as you like if you ordered an ice cream. It's absolutely bonkers listening to it, especially when you've only popped round to introduce her to your new girlfriend.
