If this story was fact, this would be the part where I ask; "What happened to the baby octopus?" Did it die? Did they send it to an aquarium? Let her keep it as a pet? I think they just lied to her. They probably told her that it really was a tumor or cyst and the movement she felt really was just muscle spams and/or gas. And then the doctors and her parents agreed to keep what happened a secret so the girl doesn't freak out and get scarred for life. As for her bizarre cravings, just say it was natural or something.
