What's wrong with taking a loan? If you do the math, you'll pay off the loan in that one month and profit a bit the first year. Every future year will be pure profit. The best way to charge for airation is per square foot. As a lawn care business owner, you should already have your clients' yard measurements on record. Let's assume that you have 30 yards and each yard is 5000sqft. You take out a $4350.00 loan and purchase a stinger. Keep in mind you now own this. Now you set up a schedule with your clients to get all 30 complete within one month. (6-8 per weekend is fair) Your price is $100.00/1000sqft. You just made $15,000 in one month, paid off your loan interest-free, own a stinger aerator and pocket over $10,000.00 in profit. Financing is great, you just need to know how to use it properly.

One of the biggest pains I've had with the stinger is I wish they made it where you could chain the sulky up to do the curb line...then drop it down to do the rest of the yard. With the design you can't run the machine with the sulky up. It dosent seem to pull as deep of plugs as other aerator. Also Lesco came out years ago with a split drum aerator....same design for steering as the stinger...we still use it.

A misconception about aeration is the time in which you can aerate. In most areas with most grass types aeration can be done up until 80-85 degrees average temperature before stressing out the lawn and before it gets below 40 degrees. For me in Idaho that means I can aerate from about March to June and Sept to Nov. That could change for you based on snow fall and such but most people have 3-5 months which aeration can show great results. Just FYI.

I bought a Turfco Turnaer 6 in 2010 Bought an Exmark Stand On in 2012. Yes. They sit in the shop most of the year but when they run they are money making machines

Next year I am getting a stand on for larger properties and will keep the Ryan drum walk behind for small yards or gates. Getting old so the time to upgrade.

Drums are superior to piston machines on hard pan soil. Pistons just don't have the soil pull compared to drums. Lots of cash in aerations, skip the thatcher and sell an organic humic treatment with an aeration to melt it into the soil. Some will stall on hills with the low oil sensor.

I just rent a pull behind drum/plug style roller ( no engine on it), add the needed cement blocks for depth control for conditions, and pull it around the yards with my John Deere garden tractor. I think I could buy a brand new one for about $300 if I wanted to, but don't because that means more equipment I have to store year around.

Blake this was a really good video wnd you argued your points well! Very helpful to many! I'm like you, I would rather pay with cash, but sometimes the game is to leverage your credit/cash. I've taken out loans with money in hand for equipment, then I figure up the interest (make a few principal payments only) Then I pay it off the day after the first year (if their is any early payoff penalty)! I've done this to build my business credit separate from my own. It took me years to do this and even now I'm frustrated when I think about it! Heading out now to pick up a used V-Ride 1. Excellent shape low hours. I try to buy mostly new mowers, but I will snatch up a good used one and let it gobble up profit! 😂

2 other options LIQUID AERATION, inexpensive, use a sprayer. Also the Z-Rator $2500 aftermarket add on unit. Mounts to Zero-turns and stand ons.

What is liquid aeration? Is it only on certain types of grass???

@@bblawncarekc essentially Humic acid and other micro/macronutrients Apply in like fertilizer. You can cover up to 100% surface area as opposed to mechanical core aeration which is 20%_40% at best. Air 8 is one brand. Simple Lawn Solutions is good. It’s basically a soil conditioner/ soil loosener. Most of my clients are on board. Some still want old school aeration like the 90s

I started doing it that way... Then figured I should get a credit card and charge everything, then pay it off right after. Still only buying things that I have the money to pay it off within a month. Build your credit up. Probably a good idea for someone young with low credit because having good credit in this business could help in the future.

I like that you stay debt free if we borrow we pay big to pay off quick. We took a Dave Ramsey course 8 years ago and it motivated us to pay off our home 10 years earlier.We one our home free and clear now we are trying to get our boys through college debt free so they can start life without school debt I hope we can give them this gift.It sucks working 12-15 hours days because I have a FT job then LC after work I am thankful for my 12-16 clients I’m hoping to get a 48” mower next season and more clients and pay off that mower in 1.5 season.

Smaller aerator like u have in the video less yards in a day. Bigger aerator like 30 inch exmark I can do 40 yrds in 12 hrs at a low price of $50 -$2000 a day with tight route density. Just like mowing and smaller mowers vs bigger mowers

Route density is key! But route density can be tricky! I can use a stand on to aerate 90% of my lawns, but then I need a smaller unit for gates.
