Interested in Recteq pellet grills? See how the Recteq RT 590 and the RT 700 compare to Traeger's Pro 575, Grilla Grills' Silverbac Alpha Wifi model, Louisiana Grills' 800 Black Label, Pellet Pro's 1190, and Smokin' Brothers' Traditional 30 inch pellet smoker. Also briefly mentioned are the Weber Smokefire Ex6 and the Camp Chef Woodwind 36.

Love my RT 700. Does everything from 180°-600°. Had it for a year now and have done everything from briskets to smash burgers. Temp is spot on for hours at a time. Done multiple briskets and pork butts overnight for 16 hours with 3 degrees or less fluctuation. I’m just a regular consumer with my first smoker, and this is the absolute easiest grill to make great bbq on. BUT, for me now, it is actually too easy not to mess something up with. If you want a true set and forget smoker that produces excellent bbq on a consistent basis, this is for you. Produces great smoke rings and flavor. It’s almost too good for it’s own good….

Most important part , what the controller can do, I own a RT590, you can calibrate your pid sensor and meat probs, you can change speed of auger critical for different ambient air temps and wind

Before watching this video, I was 90% going to buy a RT. I knew nothing about Grilla, but after seeing this video I started heavily researching them and was a quick convert. Awesome midwest-values company out of Holland, Michigan and they know in their DNA how to build for true all-season cooking (I'm in Ohio). I'm now the happy owner of a Grilla Grill (the original R2-D2-looking model). Was going to go Silverbac but I'm not a huge fan of that boring-looking cabinet, and I couldn't see spending the extra money on the rugged and cool-looking All-Terrain Silverbac model that I would literally never move off my deck. Hell, if I was willing to live with RT's bull horn handles, I knew I could get into the unusual-looking Grilla! It's also the most solidly built of the small footprint pellet grills out there. The smaller tailgater-type models tend to look/feel a little cheap (for ease of transport I'm sure), and for my small family, the next size up of standard grill design is too big. (I'm not a paid reviewer or promoter for Grilla- I just love the company and the grill. I have owned Weber Kettle, Weber Genesis, Big Green Egg, Traeger Junior)

I like the magnesium igniter that Rectec puts in their grills which last long time with less issues. I don't know if these other manufactures put Magnesium igniters in their grills because it's not mention. But it would be a big plus for me.

Overall great comparison video. Quick point of clarification, the RT-590 has a 4 year warranty... same as the Silverbac Alpha. To get the 6-year-warranty with RT you have to opt for the RT-700. I never understood why the significant difference in warranty on what is effectively the same product for the most part, only different sizes. Silverbac still wins in your comparison (and mine so far too) but wanted to clarify that spec. Also, first hand having owned an RT-590 for over a year now... I'll never own one again. Your comment about RT curating conversations surrounding their products is 100% verified. Do some digging though and you will see mentions of a glaring issue across ALL Recteq products: their app is broken. Entirely. Notifications simply don't work. It started with higher-traffic weekends (which is when you likely want to use it anyway) like Superbowl 2021 and other holidays. It's unreliable at best which basically means you can't rely on the app. It's sketchy and Recteq has known about it over a year now and hasn't addressed it. I paid $1k and wanted to love this thing because the build quality is incredible. Without a working app though the "smart" functionality is worthless. I could have paid half as much for a smoker that does the same things. I'm done waiting around for them to fix their product(s) that include functionality they sold me on the front end. The worst part is all indications are that it's a simple as bolstering their server resources which likely means they just need to loosen the purse springs and pay AWS (if that's who they use) more to meet the demands of their products. This is a problem every start-up wants to have in that you have so much demand that you need to scale your resources accordingly. Instead, they made the profit but aren't supporting their customers by scaling the resources. Their "good customer service" I read so much about goes right out the window on something glaring like this that has been a problem for over a year now. At this point, they either don't care or are too inept to fix an issue they know has existed for over a year. Neither of those is a good look for a company that boasts it's customer service response. Sending another $4 part that failed isn't good customer service.. it's just the right thing. Good customer service is fixing a known issue that affects your entire product line which shouldn't take more than a year in any industry. So, for those who found this video because Rec Teq is in the title and is researching what smoker to get: don't get Recteq if you value any of the "smart" functions it markets. They don't work. You'll pay $1,000 for a "smart" smoker and get a $500 "dumb" smoker made with nice materials. I'm not affiliated with any of these other smokers so I can't offer an alternative but, at the moment, the Grilla Silverbac Alpha is the current leader to be my next smoker. Videos like this are helping with the research though so thank you for creating it.

I can personally attest to the additional shelf being awful for the RT. I pretty much just don't use it at all anymore and make the bottom shelf work. The smoker has been wonderful aside from this.

Hey Smoke Master! I love your videos. They are methodical and very in depth. I have been watching most all of them and have narrowed down my next purchase to either the RT700 the RT590 or the Traeger 575 Pro. I have also considered the Camp Chef Woodwind 24 Wifi and the Grilla Silverbac Alpha. At this moment, I can get the Traeger for 700 out the door and the Woodwind for 900 out the door. Which leads me to my predicament... Is the RT590 worth 200$ more than the Traeger? or the RT700 worth 500$ more? I am new to smoking and not sure if its worth the splurge or not. My initial budget was 500$ and I have continuously raised my limit. I dont expect to do anything crazy and mostly cook for 4 people. I just want to buy something I will be happy with that will last a good while and hopefully not break the bank. I have no intention of competing in smoking competitions, ha! I love the certain aspects of each grill and am having a terrible time making up my mind. At the moment, the Traeger is the cheapest and seems like it will do the trick and have the best app experience. What do you think? Should I pay the extra for the RecTeq and if so, which one! Thanks.

This is a hard decision to make. If I were you, I would get the Silverbac Alpha. Why - a lot of stainless steel, a double wall, ability to switch between pid and timed duty cycle, and I trust Grilla a little bit more than recteq. That being said, you would probably do fine with the Traeger. My pellet smoker is a pitboss FB 700 that I have made upgrades to. It makes really good food and I paid $350 in 2019. The real question is what you are going to want 5 years into the future (which may be when I upgrade from the pitboss) . Buying a different grill later is more expensive than buying the right grill the first time. Again, that could still be the Traeger. Good luck 🙂

@@SmokeMasterD if you were at your "time to upgrade" point, right now... Money was not a very important factor (but keeping it at a point were it made practical financial sense)... What would you get?

It may sound silly but I couldn't get over the cosmetics of the RecTeq. Between the cheesy bull horn handles and the embossing of the logo, I just couldn't get behind it. I ultimately decided on the GrillaGrill Silverbac...which also has a lot of stainless steel and features a toggle between PID and "pro-mode" which will offer more smoke.

Lots of stainless, but what grade for each part? Low grade stainless isn't necessarily better than other options, might be worse actually.

For the RT 700 the internal components are 304 stainless. They don't say about the barrel that I could find. Which is interesting. Hmm...

@@Pete_or_Peter4Long 1.) you should be leaving a electronic product plugged up in the weather in the first place. Even in-side all your major appliances always say to have your product protected by a surge protector. That’s literally in almost every major electrical appliance unless it draws a heavy current. 2.) flaky paint? I have some bubbling from a hot spot and minor surface rust issues. Just sand paper it and move on
