Each month The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation hosts a Meet the Scientist Webinar featuring a researcher discussing the latest findings related to mental illness. In January, 2024, the Foundation featured Dr. Nathaniel G. Harnett of Harvard Medical School.
Description: Survivors vary in their likelihood of developing PTSD after trauma exposure due, in part, to how the brain handles the stress of the experience. This webinar will highlight emerging research supported by BBRF that has begun to identify the brain circuits that contribute to PTSD susceptibility and may be used to predict future PTSD symptoms. Further, future directions to improve the generalizability of neuroscience-based prediction of PTSD will be discussed.

Really interesting video. But I don't understand what the motive was behind studying PTSD from a racial point of view. The argument is that one needs to account for prior life events, but was it shown that the initial neuromarkers were not as predictive between races ? Also, there is a large disparity between prevalence of PTSD between the sexes, and I think that the neuroscience of that phenomena could also have been a potential topic for discussion.
