Disgusted doesn't even begin to describe my feeling right now. Here we have the catholic church supposedly a bastion of faith and equality, declining to say funeral services for "normal" Christians seeking solace in bereavement moments, while readily offering mass to a public funds embezzler! This blatant hypocrisy is a slap in the face to every honest believer who walks through their doors. Msgr Ssebayiga was preaching about humans not playing judge for others, that's true. But refusing a service to the needy while catering to the (allegedly) ill-gotten gains of a criminal sends a deafening message. It says your faith comes with a price tag, and for the truly struggling, that price is apparently too high. This isn't just about one mass; it's about the values this action represents. It pushes those slowly feeling disillusioned further away from this church, leaving them wondering what message the Church truly upholds. Is it compassion, or convenience? Forgiveness, or fat wallets? We, the congregation, are not the judges, but the Church's actions speak volumes. This decision serves as a stark reminder that this church lost sight of the very foundation was built upon. The church should not be a playground for the privileged - shame on the catholic church.
