Many many years ago (before I was even born and I am older than dirt) my parents and 3 or 4 of my older brothers and sisters lived just off of the Ohio River in Covington, Kentucky. The Ohio River was flooding and my mother told me that for a couple of nights she went to sleep listening to flood water pouring into their basement windows. I asked her how on earth she could sleep with that going on and she said the water was rising so gradually that she knew there was no immediate danger. She said that one morning she woke up and sat up to slip her feet into her house shoes she had left right beside her bed and they were clear across the room because the water had come into their bedroom and floated her shoes away. She said that is the day that some people showed up in a boat and got the entire family out of that house. I can't even imagine. After I came along we never lived anywhere near a river so I never experienced a flood first hand. My heart goes out to the people in BC who have been so devastatingly effected by this terrible flood.

I feel 😪 for the farmer Mr Ed Friesen. He didn't get a warning or a chance to prepare for the first flood. He was busy bracing for the next flood, he says, "we sandbagged the barn doors and got all the equipment to high ground THIS TIME." I'm 🙏 for them all.

Not even the end of this weather craziness... Meteorologists released their recent winter outlook and BC is looking to have one major run of cold between Jan and March. Jet stream is going to be miles off the coast of Vancouver Island. Match that with anymore of this ungodly precipitation, and it could lead to some major snow buildup, and a scary thaw at the other end.

Not to put blame on anybody but from the thumbnail photo you can clearly see that there should have been pilings on both sides of the river instead of just the one. I assume it had to do with cost cutting durning construction so again no fault to the people that built it they were just following the as-builts. But yeah. In a place that a highway had no right to exist you would think every precaution to make it as sturdy as possible to the forces of nature would have applied. But then again if Mother Nature wants to expand/create a new river channel, she will do just that regardless of hunan engineering.

Previously the land there functioned as a use-value for farming and cattle grazing, distributing products, etc., but today those occupations are completely suppressed by a natural occurrence caused by the same activity. Nothing natural about this deluge. The deluge is man-made from carbon fueled activity. But people refuse to accept this until it comes into their back yard.🧐

This horrifically changed pattern of weather has me, again, wondering how people that believe in any god explains this and other natural disasters, horrific accidents, heinous crimes and all forms of violence/abuse toward children, women, men, animals and the planet. Where is anyone’s god in all of these things? How do any of you believers explain how you continue to “believe”? Does that “belief” provide any balm (look it up) for those in pain? Nope. Not even a bit. Thinking we all need to “Let Go (of god[s])” and start really “worshipping” science, knowledge, facts, and things we “know”; not “believe”. Will wait for any replies…………. Still waiting…….

Atmospheric River” Floods Western Canada From November 13 to 15, 2021, a weather event referred to as an “atmospheric river” brought record-setting rainfall to areas of British Columbia in western Canada. Twenty locations broke all-time daily rainfall records, with some areas receiving more than 250 millimeters (10 in.) of rain during the three-day storm. The rainfall caused floods and landslides that blocked highways, triggered evacuations, and stranded travelers.
