I grew up a fan instantly when I was just 8yo watching Antonio Inoki back in early 80s, since 1982. Watching this masterclass by Danielson and Shibata and seeing them honouring Inoki and each others like that was heart warming like all the memories it brought back.

In 2016, Daniel Bryan tearfully announced his retirement following extensive concussion-based injuries. In 2017, Katsuyori Shibata suffered a subdural hematoma and was believed to be finished with wrestling. In 2024, Bryan Danielson and Shibata put on a master class on free TV. Why DO other people watch other sports, I truly wonder.

Bryan opened the world to smaller wrestlers and defined the ideal "perfect wrestler" with a mixt of striking strong style, technical grappling and submission, crowd playing with his awareness and charisma, in his 40's he's still simply the best, let's enjoy watching him wrestle, it won't last much longer.

Shibata held the PURE title for almost 6 months and had to drop it due to VISA issues. This was Shibata's first match back after clearing that up.
