In the last video, we talked about how brain stimulation, called neuromodulation, can be used to help restore functionality... but what if we could add functionality? Neuroprosthetic and cognitive enhancement devices can help augment our capabilities by enhancing memory, restoring or improving our senses, or, as Elon Musk says, make ourselves smarter by integrating with AI.
Harrison and Colin (The BCI Guys) are neurotech researchers and entrepreneurs dedicated to creating a brain-controlled future! Neurotechnology and brain-computer interfaces are devices that allow users to control machines with their thoughts and interact with technology in new ways. This revolutionary technology will change life as we know it, and soon will be as common as the touchscreen on your smartphone. Join us in learning about the brain-controlled future!

Very nice video! Loved the trippy loop sequence :D Do you think tDCS is better for enhancement compared to invasive BCIs? I mean, they require no surgery, which is a big plus. P.S.: Have you tried having the mic a little bit closer? I think there is some echo.

I guess it kind of depends on what you mean by "better." Invasive technologies like DBS have shown very high levels of efficacy and can obviously stimulate brain regions with much more specificity. There are several FDA approved applications for DBS that are very effective. If "better" means most effective then DBS is probably the best we have right now. But, if better means the best option for a particular patient, then non-invasive technologies are often a better solution. tDCS is really cheap and widely available but we still aren't fully sure exactly what effect it has on the brain and to what extent it has. TMS, transcranial magnetic stimulation, seems to have much greater efficacy for the treatment of migraine, depression, and anxiety and it's effects and mechanisms are better understood

And thank you for the feedback on audio. Unfortunately we were promised audio equipment that ultimately didn't come through for this shoot. We had to use a mic that we had laying around and we were in a massive studio room so there was quite a bit of echo. Fortunately our audio engineering partner, Argzero Technologies, has been doing a pretty good job with the audio. Trust me, the echo and other artifacts are very very noticeable before the editing. We bought new audio equipment now though so hopefully this will not be an issue in future videos.

@@BCIGuy yeah I remember reading somewhere that tDCS is so widespread that people might misuse it without guidance. Do you confirm it? Has there been cases of harmful consequences to tDCS?
