There are 2 sides to this fight outcome, assuming the Strawhats come out victorious. 1) Luffy beating Kaido 1-1 gives him that level of respect around the world. Kaido is becoming less of a Villain and more of an Antagonist designed to challenge and crush Luffy's Supreme Will. I believe it was Mr. Morj who talked about this Arc being about Conqueror's Haki, not Armaments Haki, which has come to make sense. 1. Kaido is into breaking will, especially those with Conqueror's Haki. 2. Too many Conquerors he views as a problem on a ship. He has PTSD from the "defeat" of Rocks and how the Rocks Pirates fell apart or disbanded. Remember he was a Kid like Shanks and Buggy. Rocks was like his Father figure with Newgate and Linlin being like a Big Bro and Big Sis. He had faith in Rocks like Shanks had in Roger, Ace had in Newgate, the Red Scabbards have in Oden, and the Straw Hats have in Luffy. 3. Gecko Moriah's words and Life foreshadowed all of this. People clown on Moriah unfairly. He ran into Kaido and still became a Shichibukai. He lost his entire Crew in a worse way than Sabaody. All of the Yonko will now go sho end up in my Top 10 Favorite One Piece Characters after their gradual Characterizations and Character Developments are complete. Shanks has always been my 3rd Favorite Character in the Series. The Yonko are some of the most layered and Complex Characters likely in Fiction.

Kaido "feeling detached" talking about humans has brought an old theory of mine back. Law's devil fruit was revealed to have the ability to grant someone "eternal youth." I think the eventual story payoff for Law's Ope-Ope no Mi is NOT going to be with him sacrificing himself to save someone, but I think we are gonna find out a character of significance already had the operation performed on them by a previous user of the fruit. Kaido's desire to die and being unable to has always struck me as an obvious candidate for such a reveal.

What if kaido was Rock's son and he loved and believed in his father only to have his whole worldview crushed when either rocks revealed his true colors and made it clear he didn't care about Kaido except maybe as a weapon or a soldier or maybe just seeing roger (and garp) in action was enough to sway his beliefs (as luffy is known to do) it would maybe explain some of his viewpoint on faith and humans, as well as the suicidal tendencies(but also wanting to die in a glorious manner), alcoholism, and bad relationship with his own child

Pretty sure that luffy is going to be saves by Momo. Not only is the only one that knows how luffy is at any given moment, he can also fly and would be a perfect moment for him to grow as chracter, overcoming his fear of heights.
