Thank you for all your content, this guide is gonna be my bible to learning pvp on the class. i wanted to ask if you have a safed overlay for the settings that u are using and all the hotkeys, and if yes , if you would kindly share it. The most annoying part for me is always setting up the screen and all the keybinds.
@stardawggunrocks51528 ай бұрын
Same, you can see what I do there on the screen, basically I have all 20 cooldown slots in a grid really close to my character so I have some chance of checking the cooldown at the right time. You'll see I have some stuff around my minimap, I figure I have to or should look there so I put "overflow" of additionl skills I want to see the cooldown of up there. On the bottom left and bottom right, are cooldowns I don't need to track but do need to hotkey - so I put them far out of the way as I can so I don't accidentally mouse move the skill out of it's slot (and still sometimes I do, wish they'd just let us lock the damn quickslots!). 18:50 in the video, you can see what buttons I have all the quickslots hotkeyed to, but that's a pretty specific setup for my 12-button mouse so I don't know how much it'll help. In general, I use a mouse with a lot of buttons and I bind all the quickslots to all those buttons, plus whatever is closest to WASD. While I rebind Z/X/V to quickslots instead of rage abosrb/transfer and emergency escape, you could save a couple more quickslots by using the Shift+Z, Shift+X inputs instead for reso/claw rabams. I'm starting to do that now since I need buttons for my taebeck belt buff and whale pots...

@stardawggunrocks51528 ай бұрын
Depends on gear, playstyle, PvP mode you wanna do obviously. But in general I like Kabua's artifacts in almost all situations, unless you really want to build glass cannon (Magic AP) or you really need the magic accuracy (Magic Accu) or you really want to use your 100% BSR a lot (BSR Regen). For Lightstone sets I like: - Uncapped offensive build, most aggressive rat/flanker lighstone set to go for is "All-Out-Attack" with +24ap 5% crit dmg, but losing the defense -25eva -15dr does hurt when you need to trade out damage on your block or in your SA skills to secure kills/catches. If you trust your decision making or you massively outgear/outskill people you can get a few more kills with this one, but it's generally considered *too* glass cannon even for a tamer where most of your damage mitigation comes from your s anyways. - Uncapped offensive build, most reasonable is "The Wild: Humans" or "Target Openings" and probably +24 human damage is better than 6% crit damage, +10ap, +16accu, +100stam. You probably don't need the accuracy of "Target Openings" because of +15% and the stomp combos you can do for a brief +30%, but if you do miss the occasional hit "Target Openings" is probably better. If you don't miss that often anyways on people you feel like you could have killed with a bit more accuracy, "The Wild: Humans" is probably better. - Uncapped defensive build, most reasonable is "Untouchable" since it gives you a metric fuck ton of defensive stats with +200hp, 33eva, 18dr, 3% special attack evasion. I can't imagine an argument for anything being better, and if you can kill other players without an offensive artifact set you might want to just run this anyways to have a bit more sustain while dealing damage in uncapped PvP. BiS uncapped for me is 2x Kabua, Untouchable, and a more defensive crystal build. I'm okay with not getting kills on hybrid/full evasion players, and we have enough DP shred and accuracy self-buffs to kill AP/DR targets most of the time. If I can live until Dark Gaoler or Skyreach come off cooldown, I can reset the fight a little bit, look for more opportunities, and possibly just gtfo if I'm fighting some cancer ass gauntlet class after I realize I need 4 combos and downsmash luck to kill them. I think as tamer you're wasting your time trying to kill tanktards, just let the succ sages and ranged classes burn them down and land a grab on them if they are too disruptive - my opinion, you should be focused on killing glass cannons and AP/DR players, or the couple hybrid evasion classes that you can still kill because of your accuracy buffs even running full AP accessories and not sacrificing AP for accuracy. For crystals, I like something like this: 1. 4x Hoom 2. Haetae Tear 3. 2x JIN Glorious Special Evasion 4. 2x Frozen Bitterness 5. 2x Corrupted 6. 2x Rebellious 7. 2x Visionary Crystal of Elkarr 8. 1x RBF Viper Of those, the ones I swap around a lot are (4), (6), (8). If I feel like I can't kill people, and nobody is really trying to kill me to the point I'm trying to live and get shit done with like 10% HP, then instead of ther bitterness crystals I would add JIN Vipers +20 accuracy if I am missing, the 2nd RBF Viper for more human damage, and maybe Ignore Grapple and Ignore Knockdown resist crystals if I feel like my combos/catches are getting resisted too much. I will also consider if fighting on terrain, adding the two Ascension crystals for jump height so I can get up and down. Likewise, I might decide screw it I don't need any HP, resist, accuracy for these shitters, and run 4x Macalod instead of the hooms. It depends, but the factors you are looking at basically come down to: 1. Can I get away with giving up defense? Does it actually help to have more AP/accuracy anyways in this situation or do I already have enough and it's overkill? 2. How am I dying? How am I failing to kill? Are they standing up because I'm missing, they're resisting, or I have to leave because my block/HP is too low to keep DPS on target? For capped, running the HP set "Steel Heart" is a safe bet, since that extra HP also makes your block stronger by the same amount and we rely on it so much. You'll find yourself living with a sliver of health more often running "Steel Heart", and on Tamer if you can just live you have a good chance at iframing your way to a recovery or even turning the tables. You can also look at running "Take Off!" especially if the terrain is mountainous and you're going to be on flex, doing cannon/anti-cannon shenanigans. Even just the effect jump height has on your Cloud Stomping and Skyreach for getting up and down terrain is a win, so if you feel like you'd rather be a bit squishier but have the chance to be more proactive in getting to cancerous cannon positions or out positioning enemies with jump tricks and a big skyreach/cloud stomping vertical, "Take Off!" can be good with the 2x Ascension crystals and Soaring Wings elixir in your elixir roto.

So good video ty bro ! One last question , what about gear ? Should we go eva or dr ? (I already have Eva V )
@stardawggunrocks515210 ай бұрын
Eva is fine if you're willing to run accessories and maybe offhand and stuff - but unless you're super committed to it and totally fine with not even being able to combo most Dr OR Eva players at full gear almost every tamer will recommend to focus on AP/DR build. As an evasion meme pest, Tamer isn't a bad choice but it's a lot harder to live through CC because you don't have much evasion from skills. Because we're so good at staying alive standing through s and positioning it always seems to me like DR and working on your reactive positioning and timing is the better play - then when you see opportunity for offense you can pounce. But with Eva you might not be able to get the kills as easily, so if it isn't for cc-bot playstyle with a dedicated team that understand how to play off your roll of getting the catches and not dying to burst, it is hard to recommend evasion for tamer.

This is just superior. The best guide I have ever seen in all classes. Perhaps I miss a max damage protected combo with legendary beast dance core, How It should be? Thank you and congratulations!
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Means a lot to hear that. I wasn't confident it was going to come out anything but a jumbled mess when I started recording and writing down absurd amounts of notes to make it lol. I would say that the grab combo is also the min/maxed damage combo for core: beast dance and I say that because after you sidestep for +10 magic AP and use the skill Garuda, renamed after I published this guide to Skybound Stab, it applies a -20 magic DP on contact before the CC goes out (which will ruin your combo if you let that upward swing animate, so we cancel before the second hit of Garuda/Skybound Stab). When you cancel Garuda's 1st hit with shift + space into Soaring Strike from hotbar, if you time it well Soaring Strike animates significantly faster and if you get the downsmash especially then you will have time for Flow: Full Moon before doing LBDance Tiger. Soaring strike is your T3 addon ability in awakening, I run -20dp and +15 human damage on it and at his point you've already created a ~65 ap gap up for the big damage which comes from your optional gust (youll see I usually omit this but technically youre up another 6 magic ap if you gust before the knockdown of shift + Q), into tiger knockdown (another -10dp) into celestial slam for air attacks, into beast rampage which will get the 15% accuracy buff, holding S+LMB at the end of beast rampage for flow intimidation to chance a downsmash (last hit of BR has a downsmash too), and then doing stuff like bolt wave gaoler (goaler has another downsmash) and if you get the reset use a rabam knockdown to extend, or you can try to chase/touch up the damage as they escape with cloud stomping and moonlight stike. If you scan these comments you'll see that I didn't do a great job explaining the combo, and instead of infographic with a bit of text trying to summarize the clips I used to show how I adjust the combo in different situations I wish I had talked through it a bit. So first CC window is all about gapping that AP up with our DP debuffs so that Beast Rampage hits as hard as possible and we get as much of a chance at reset combo as possible too, but both pieces, 1st CC window and second, can be used independently off our other catches in the kit as well including core: beast dance. Tiger beast dance in the combo is mostly used to ensure we've got the right Shift+Q set for that second CC. The thing is, the min/maxing may not be necessary and does add difficulty and danger because some of the key parts are unprotected at least for a third of a second or so. If you watch back the clips in the grab combo section, you'll see that often I'll decide to use a safer CC through beast dance SA and that if I catch with beast dance SA I actually use pretty much the same skills just in a slightly different order and without the min/maxed debuff ones. Hope that helps a bit, I noticed that the grab combo section is the most rewatched and probably the least we'll explained which is a shame. I'll probably do a video sometime this summer that breaks down multiple combos from the different catches, since especially with the evasion level rising in endgame PvP exploiting our accuracy buffs with "mouse move stomp" combos is kinda becoming a big deal where it wasn't as useful before.

30:10 How do you keep him off the ground in a full combo? He bounces three times. When I try it, this does not happen in the full combo. He falls to the ground during "RMB-- D-RMB" of the combo, then during "Shift Q Shift F" he can get up from the ground. Because he's immune. By the way, I try this on skill trainers in the battle arena.

If you notice in the combo I do not let Garuda/Skybound Stab animate past the first hit. If you let the CC happen, from the 2nd hit, it ruins the combo. Basically as soon as the "dig" attack hits you use Shift+SPACE to cancel it

Really newbie question since im just starting out on bdo but im just trying to get an understanding for what later stages of gameplay will feel like since im bad. I'm wondering what simple options we have for switching from preawak to awakening and vice versa. Ik in awakening you can evade forward to change to preawak, and that in preawak you can leafwave to change to awakening. Since when you evade forward you enter preawakening do you typically fight a lot in preawaking when youre being aggressive? is that an issue bc you want to primarily fight with awakening skills (potentially bc of higher dps)? or after a forward evade are there awakening skills that can change you back to awak so that you can begin a combo in awakening? I'm asking bc if you want to primarily fight in awakening obviously theres a lot of benefit to forward evading but then continuing to fight in awakening and not in preawakening. Again sorry for the newbie question
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
All good actually appreciate hearing about this stuff since it is hard to go back and remember what all was confusing when starting out. Moonlight strike from hotbar is a really good swap, as you mention leafweave and gust if available, hotbar flow intim, hotbar echo pierce, cloud stomping, and hotbar skyreach all do the job. You can also get into Allround spinner from some skills which they added a bunch of text describing them in the Allound spinner skill description, but honestly that's all kind of niche. Good to know but won't feel impactful to add to your playstyle until you're trying to be like, the best tamer ever or just enjoying geeking out on the possibilities the class offers. So that's the full spectrum of options, but I think the one that makes it feel like youre never stuck in pre-awakening if you dont wanna be is echo pierce into shift+space. You can instantly cancel echo pierce on the first frame, then instantly cancel shift + space on the first frame with whatever you want. Using this trick with staccato fingers makes it possible to do funky stuff like soaring strike from preawake by adding these few cancel frames to get into awakening first. Also, echo pierce from hotbar into s + f for cloud stomping makes cloud stomping go right into the somersaults with no windup animation, so I basically always do that to move faster. Hope that helps a bit. In general leafweave and gust especially since they provide the magic ap buff, and because moonlight is an engage, and because hotbar intim is a catch attempt, and skyreach and cloud stomping are strong movement for engage or disengage that's all going to be your go-to arsenal anyways to setup for a play in awakening and they are all swaps as well. But when you do get into that awkward situation where you want to be in awake but everything is on CD or you forget what is on CD and what isn't, the echo pierce trick is going to bail you out most of the time. If not, c-swap after WW is fine as well it just isn't offensive and has a small animation lock so it's not used as much these days with everything else we can use.

I can't make the grab combo at 27:06 work... I cant get in LBD after full moon before the enemy gets up and dodges out. I find myself just cutting full moon out of that combo completely in order for it to connect. Am I missing something?
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
No youre not, as you can see if you scan these coments I did a shit job explaining the combo in the video. The "flowchart" I made is also unclear, but a lot of the skills are basically optional and it depends on downsmash luck and extra sources of attack speed like bsr buff and tamer buff whether you can fit all of it or just the essentials. It's basically required to get a downsmash off soaring strike and/or full moon for tiger LBD to fit and stiff as they get up, or you need your bsr buff running, or tamer buff running for extra attack speed. Otherwise just soaring strike into beast dance tiger into shift +q. Also, If you're doing the the Garuda, shift+space, Soaring Strike combo you'll notice if you time it right soaring stike happens way faster than normal, and that plus having min 7% attack speed addon running is what lets you fit the extras if you dont get downsmashes. It is a combo I still use in AoS this season but without the 10% attack speed crystals it doesn't workout quite as well if slowed and I'm definitely noticing that it's harder to time the stiff as well - planning a followup video at some point to go into combos a bit more, but you can always ask tamer discord as well and they'll sort you out.

Glad you asked, I wasn't clear in my description - the reason you get 15% from CS into BR, and FM into BR, is because you actually do the auto attack in between on those transitions - try just holding LMB but not S/DOWN after CS or Full Moon and you'll see you can reup the buff via auto attack that way. Hope that clears this up, its always the autoattack but you always wanna be using CS or FM to cancel into 3rd auto attack hit for the buff, whether following into standard combo Beast Rampage from there or not.

What skills do you have locked? Or did i miss the part where u talk about it?
@stardawggunrocks51524 ай бұрын
don't remember if I talked about it in the keybindings section or not, I go over my skill tree a lot but of the things to lock it's really just the unprotected pre-awakening skills if you want and ebuff in awake. Lightning of earth, Evasive Attack, Stretch Kick/Flurry of Kicks, Whiplash, maybe Trample if you use from hotbar and/or sometimes mess up and trample when you don't want to. Throat burn is optional, if you lock it you can get bolt wave into Allround Spinner cancel and probably other cancels into ARS from preawake, but probably not important. E-buff I lock because i'm worried about pressing Shift+E at the worst time but in general if your inputs are clean none of these are mandatory. It's all about minimizing potential disaster from messy unclean inputs and lazy fingers.

There r too many quick slots in ur settings, idk how u r using ur number keys but I can only reach from 1-5 with my fingers, what are the skills that I must use quick slot or recommended to use quick slot? For example I kinda got used to using w+F and I find myself keep going back to that even tho I bound it to the side mouse key.
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
The most common is WW evasion on the mouse since hitting W twice feels super awkward and has more of a gap plus potential for error, and maybe soaring strike on the second button? Most tamers use a mouse with extra buttons just to make life easier - I also rebind T, G, B, V, C, CapsLock, and ~ just to get more quick slots within reach which does help a lot too.

@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
The brighter "shining" skills which are generally down the middle (the source image is just screenshots of "selecting" that skill in the skill tree in game by clicking on it) are what always ought to fit. If it's "grayed out", bit darker less yellow more brown not highlighted, it's an option that depends on conditions of the combo as it progresses - basically did downsmashes happen, are you attack speed buffed, do you want to be safe SA or go for the last touch up on damage at the end. Basically it's a mess, and should have been explained better but if you watch the section with the demonstrations from AoS games you'll see how I think about it. Basically cut out unsafe things if under threat of peel, or replace them with safer SA/FG alternatives, and consider how you want to end the combo because intim is a moment of unsafe you risk for the damage and downsmash chance that you can reso, stomp, or moonlight out of depending in what you need. Planning to do a new video soon that goes into combos in detail, its not a strength of mine but I do have a number of other combos, addons, and variations that would be worth mentioning and definitely the grab combo and different options with it need to be explained better so at some point I will get to that.

@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
Hah, good catch - I mentioned it at 42:18 and it is the awakening equivalent of the evasion skill. In awakening Shift + A or Shift + D will do evasion when Leaves and Gust are on CD, until one of them comes back so since I had used them both, in that clip I did it twice while they were on CD. Since the second evasion didn't do anything there, you would call that a mistake where I had triple cc'd and thought I'd get a Leaves/Gust there for the AP and reposition but instead I mismanaged my CDs lol. The skill was recently changed so that evasion is into SA, at the time I recorded that clip it was only at the start into unprotected, and even before that earlier in the year there was no at all on evasion in awakening except in PvE where both (pre-awake and awake) are full and always have been. Hope that explains it a bit heh, probably shouldn't have used that clip since it's outdated but it's not often you get a round-winning triple garuda CC hahaha xD

Is Bolt Jolt still used in tamer combo's?
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
not anymore - it is no longer considered enough damage to be worth the sacrifice. Such a long time to be unprotected in one place, and in general you're better off getting a reposition with leaves/gust and doing some awakening skills, or doing flash chain right away. By skipping bj/bj for leaves into awakening skills or the flash/pole/shift chain, you get just as much or more damage out and the target is immediately debuffed and you have buffed yourself with magic AP in either case. The leaves, garuda, shift+space after 1st hit and do animation accelerated hotbar soaring strike, will leaves buff +10 magic ap, garuda debuff -20 magic dp, soaring strike debuff -20dp T3 addon, and give you a +15 human damage T3 if that is what you run on Soaring Strike. So the REAL damage that is going to come from 2nd CC beast rampage will be so, so much higher when you Shift+Q tiger or intim for the additional -10dp and CS into BR them at something like a 75 AP gap that you don't have time to create if you bj/bj. Even with flash chain, you will get the -15 magic dp from pole and +10 magic ap from stance shift. There could still be some utility if you don't have the other cooldowns ready, as an autopilot error recovery basically where it's too hard to figure out a better 1st CC section of damage and debuff/self-buff so you just go to never on CD bj/bj. But it seems unlikely you'd ever be in the spot where you don't have flash/pole/stance at least so it's better to override the old bj/bj memory with that for those cases. At the very end of the grab combo section in this video I demonstrate one example of this kind of combo using grab into flash chain, and you'll see it does similar damage to the leaves/soaring 1st cc window combo. You can also grab into F for gaoler, which covers that annoying little gap after you grab ppl that you often will get peeled out of. I would have to go back into the damage numbers to see if there is a scenario that tradtitional bj/bj spam after grab would be the play depending on what else is on cooldown but most of us have decided not to do that anymore (although sometimes I do space out after grab when awakened kit is on cooldown and it would have been better to bj/bj LOL...).

you think tamer will shine with evasion build? im currently at 720gs with my ninja main. hehe
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
I think it can, we have a +20dp Q-block buff, we can run +20dp addon on Soaring Strike which re-ups the +20dp Q-block buff if you use Soaring Strike, and we have +6% evasion buff from cloud stomping... so you can theoretically stack evasion, and you can also still 1-combo at lower AP because of the 15% accuracy buff, the other 15% accuracy buff that stacks, the 5% from passive plus skill accuracy and addons, not to mention -50 dp shred with all addons and dp down debuffs applied and +16 magic AP from gust. So the question is really whether you're going to be okay trading off your kill potential for survivability on a class that can just stay safe with s and positioning. Glass cannon, sorc-style full offense builds are more common because we have that same quality as sorcs of being hard to touch when we're not dealing damage, so the opportunity for you to gain through your evasion is when you a) got caught, so did you need the evasion or to make better choices or b) try to kill somebody, so did you really need the evasion or just extra AP/accuracy to kill them faster so you can resume s and evasive movement before anyone can come for you. That said, if you're willing to accept a true single-target elimination and support role playstyle, I think that's when you'll get the most out of your evasion build if it's like a LOT of evasion. Your block won't break as easily and all your stuff is FG, your HP will stay up when you use your SA trades. If it's just an offhand and gloves/boots, maybe an accessory you're probably fine to play mostly the same just with worse TTK and getting less of those kill steals, but being able to go for more plays before you have to back out and it being a bit harder to force you off your target. It's unclear to me where the line is, getting lower TTK but more time before your block breaks or your HP degrades... definitely with our accuracy and dp/eva self-buffs it's doable to go eva though so I wouldn't go nuts changing your gear until you see how it feels with your evasion build rn.

@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
I definitely regret not explaining the diagram more, or the skill addons and their application to the combo, as there's too many branches of that decision tree that I basically left up to the viewer to figure out whats optional and when it can fit and under what conditions etc. I'll try to explain. First, keep in mind Arena of Solare had those busted 10% attack speed crystals so it was always easier to fit more, however this combo does work at normal attack speed in the rest of the game but does sort of expect at least the 7% atk spd addon running. The biggest thing after that is, if you include the Garuda 1st hit cancel after leaves full moon wont fit anymore unless your heilang absorb buffed or bsr buffed. Even skipping full moon, the Garuda cancel for that -20magic DP debuff has several things that will let them potentially get up before echo pierce or LBD Tiger can stiff them: 1. How many frames after the debuff is applied do you wait before Shift+SPACE cancel 2. How many frames of Shift+SPACE did you allow to animate before hitting soaring strike hockey 3. Did (1) and (2) happen in the sweet spot for an accelerated Soaring Strike animation which is a phenomena known as "hit accel", the TLDR is it will save about 10 frames off your Soaring Strike animation 4. How long after Soaring Strikes damage goes out do you wait before hitting spacebar for echo pierce if your using that to restiff. All the frames you can bleed out from 1-4 vs. perfect execution is why just doing leaves, soaring strike, full moon into LBD tiger for the stiff with some attack speed running - hopefully at least 7% from moonlight engage into grab and maybe 10% after soaring strike goes out is easier... but it's possible this just doesn't fit if you have some frame drops or they have good ping or w/e. It did fit in this video and seems to work for me, but if you and others aren't getting it to fit I'll add a note to the pinned timestamps comment maybe. Hope that helps a bit, definitely let me know if it's still not working.

Worse if I do it early I don't get the -20magic and the cost is fairly high overall for your total combo damage after that because you also had a slow soaring. What are your hardest hitting skills as an Awaken Tamer?
@stardawggunrocks51529 ай бұрын
Beast rampage, soaring strike, Celestial Slam, the 100% bsr all-round spinner. Also, magic dp debuff with skybound stab (gotta cancel it with something after first hit so that the CC doesn't go out and ruin combo, just use the dig for -20magic dp debuff) or flash: pole thrust if you can. Use legendary beast dance: echo, white tiger (the weird af shift + q skill) for -10dp knockdown re-cc, or flow: intimidation -10dp float re-cc. Generally, you should have your +16 magic ap buff from a leafweave/gust. The other thing is the accuracy self-buff, when you do full moon or celestial slam, then beast rampage, you get 15% all accuracy buff before beast rampage comes out. Skip to the grab combo section in this video and you'll see a scuffed infographic that tries to lay out the options, but thenidea is to debuff them and then use soaring strike, reCC with white tiger or flow intim (sometimes spam both here in case one resists), use celestial slam into beast rampage for max DPS.

@@stardawggunrocks5152Awesome, thank you very much, and I'm assuming in large scale fights I'd only use the protected skills you mentioned unless an opportunity presents itself.
@stardawggunrocks51528 ай бұрын
@legion7 exactly, the best you can do in large scale is usually to beast rampage core, fearful trembling shift+q from preawake, and scratch RMB from preawake especially after tree climb behind them for your protected catches - it usually works out best if you're skirmishing at the edges and sort of baiting people by /sa moving through the bigger fights along terrain features, because you can get the opportunities to use unprotected stuff for sure but need to generate that with movement. One thing that works okay in large scale is to get your accuracy buff before diving, and if you land a beast rampage bound you can do this: Beast Rampage, left flow intim come out but literally as it's connecting shift+space cancel, soaring strike from hotbar, full moon, cloud stomping. If you time the shift+space into Soaring Strike right its basically instant, this isn't really a combo more of a "get all my damage out NOW" thing and the couple frames of unprotected I rarely get punished for (flow intimidation). After a scratch stiffness catch, safest reCC is fearful trembling shift+q stun, then you can leafweave/gust, use skybound stab, shift +space, soaring strike, and go for recc with beast rampage if you need the safety or think about your unprotected shift+Q knockdown maybe after another to juke - you can often have success with leafweave/gust/shift+space just before or just after that knockdown but it is situational. Another thing to know is that after your grab, there is a small gap just before you to the side - you can actually cover that with F, for the dark gaoler frontal. I always forget to but that's one unforced error that happens all the time for me and I've been meaning to work on - grab, point camera at pressuring enemies, F, then and start combo.

Is the Grab Combo downsmash reliant or am I just too slow to make it happen?
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
not downsmash reliant, but depending on which variant you use the timing is very tight - focusing on 1st CC until the stiff as they rise, the harder one first: 1. Grab, Leaves, Garuda 1st hit only, Shift+Space cancel into Soaring Strike, Echo Pierce, LBD Tiger. The advantage is the -20dp from Garuda 1st hit, then the T3 addons like -20dp and +15human dmg from Soaring Strike are applied and if you want to go nuts with it you can use 25% BSR echo pierce for another +10ap but that's pretty poor use of BSR unless it's a must-kill and you need that 10 more AP (you probably don't). Between echo pierce and tiger, the two stiffens should be too close together to both hit the cc counter and should back each other up in case of resists. As soon as soon as you see them get stiffened you can Gust into LBD: Echo Tiger, for the +16ap to replace the +10ap buff and knockdown into your Celestial, Slam Beast Rampage finisher. You'll see in the video I mostly just didn't bother with using Gust for +16ap, and only in one of the example AoS clips did I use the 25% BSR Garuda. 2. Grab, Leaves, Soaring Strike, Full Moon, LBD Tiger. This one is safer, and easier. There's less chance to mess up the inputs or timings, you're only giving up the -20 magic dp from Garuda 1st hit. You'll notice in one of the clips from BA demonstrating the combo at the start of that section, I managed to fit Grab, Leaves, Garuda 1st hit only, Shift+Space cancel into Soaring Strike, Full Moon, LBD Tiger which is technically better because both soaring strike and full moon have downsmash rolls and Full Moon does decent damage as well, so that extra skill is nice, but I feel like sometimes people get up too fast this way if you try to sneak the Garuda... There's actually a phenomenon known as "hit accel" that happens when you use that Garuda cancel, but if you are too slow with the cancel as that 1st hit connects with the target your Soaring Strike will not accelerate and this seems like the difference in getting the extra skills to fit together with garuda debuff, like Full Moon. You'll also notice more stuff fits if you are Heilang: Absorbed or BSR buffed, I've been able to fit Grab, Jolt Stab, Leaves, Garuda 1st hit Shift+Space, Soaring Strike, BSR Echo Pierce into the rest before which is a stupid amount of frame-tight cancel timings in a row but does fit... so it's up to you how forgiving you want to make it because the gains from the garuda are really just for min/maxing 1-combo in AoS. If you go back and forth between the examples from AoS and the demonstrations in the grab combo section, should give you an idea of what is supposed to fit. Hope that helped a bit, I actually have this scuffed video on the "hit accel" phenomenon I might as well link since it's a weird one to understand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6jIdWuBhr5rqpI

@Lucas Luro gotcha, yeah for that to fit you kinda need the hit accel which basically comes from having only a few frames of shift +space after Garuda connects before you press hotbar soaring strike. @stardawggunrocks51529 ай бұрын
Put him in command: attack mode, and make sure he's locked onto the player before they V which pretty much means you have used a skill with a "Heilang Effect" on that player. Can even do this at range with LBD, Beast Rampage, Allround Spinner, or command attack itself but also void lighthning, roaring, a lot of pre-awake skills that don't have protection and aren't great for this cause you should probalby lock them like whiplash/lightning of earth. People use diff skills to hunt the player when doggo is locked on, but that's the idea - it's pretty dumb and should be removed, but classes that can movement combo to an enemy coming out of V and kill them before they recover like DK, Maewha should also not be able to do that. It's one of the unique advantages of the class in AoS, but it works in open world NW/Siege too. Again, expect them to get around to removing it someday or fixing V recovery animation so that it doesn't matter as much if you track them down with the doggo.

Is this the best 1v1 class? Better than lahn?
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
Tamer is S-Tier in 1v1. Impossible to say she's "the best" because player skill differs, maybe we're all trash and one day Elon will buy PA and AIs will learn to play all the classes and show us that it was in fact Shais that were "best" at 1v1 all along... but we were just a bunch of dumb gamer apes that couldn't figure that out. Maybe! But that isn't very helpful so I'll tell you why I think Tamer can really shine in 1v1s and is S-Tier. In a 1v1 the doggo traps and his auto-attack random CCs start to really add up to a lot of extra CC pressure. You can also mix in unprotected roaring/howling doggo traps in addition to the protected void/surging traps without much risk, in group PvP this is usually bad to do. Same with the doggo's Command: Attack skill with it's 4s ranged stiff on targets in the reticle, and you can also use him to body block better with only one attacker coming from one direction. If you know your class matchups, in 1v1 it is fairly safe to mix in our unprotected fast-CC pressure between the typical protected CC pressures, e.g. flash or breath spike or Shift+Q in awake, maybe echo pierce, upward claw, and stretch kick if you're a psychopath like that. Tamer's low AoE basically doesn't matter in 1v1, and with only a single direction of attack your locked-in FG DPS can actually be traded standing which is a big no-no in group PvP - especially if you mouse move or cancel out of it when they try getting behind you. In 1vX or group fights if you try trading your FGs you're either desperate, too cocky, or straight up suicidal - but in 1v1 it's situationally OK to do it. Add to that how good she is on stamina and the fact that her useful CDs are all pretty low, and time is your friend not theirs in most cases. Plus, you have full reset disengage potential with Skyreach/Moonlight/Stomp/LBP and your s, plus same for re-engage with those same skills. You really have to make a mistake to be punished in 1v1, whereas in group PvP you typically get punished for trying to grab, combo, fish for CCs, or deal damage on top of a teammate CC because your literally right next to them and have no choice but to use FG or unprotected skills for your highest burst DPS and best re-CCs. Hope that helps a bit, I do think if you are looking for the absolute best answer to your question, I'm not that guy tbh and you should ask class discords, ArminTF/Divios and that level of PvP player if you can in their streams or wherever, or really try both classes and dive deep into the kit to figure out which is better. I wish I knew more about Lahn to help out in that department!

@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
Don't worry the person who made this guide and plays hundreds of AoS games is still shit as well lol. For me the thing I really really need right now is better general approaches to fighting each class in small scale, and therefore choosing my skills and disengage timing better, also full disengage timing better. In general I like to be confident I have exits, like skyreach over a wall or down a hill or stomp over some annoying obstacles that will trip up straight line movers - feels like Tamer at the higher level I can't reach yet is all about knowing you will land a grab because you know what skills to grab each class out of, knowing how to fish behind each classes frontals I.e. when they'll use them, and therefore feeling much less pressure to force your damage out on every catch. If we get peeled by CC, we just flipped the whole fight to a loss because we're squish. So for me it's keeping my full concentration on other opponents while reducing catch stress by knowing what to look for that I think will help me get better. Right now I am not making as many mechanical errors but I am still making horrendous errors in judgement, although I got pretty far just drilling mechanics so that I never try to use off CD skills, run out of Stam, or get stuck with no at the wrong time. I would argue just drilling your mechanics will give you a very solid foundation, and then focusing on decision making from there you will only refine mechanics. Hope that helps a bit, just some random thoughts since I'm in a pretty bad mental state over failing over and over again in AoS lol

The reason I don't value it as highly as the others is on a 6s CD compared to moonlight 4s and feeling like a slow cc to come out when you can LBP cancel into moonlight faster, plus it doesn't have the (low but something) damage of dance core which is also 4s SA stiff if you go for tiger input, and BR and Garuda cores have at least some additional range for multiple CC targets. If you're making it work I'm into that for sure, just haven't seen it work myself so I gave what I consider to be standard options.

bro how the fuck do you do that garuda into shift space cancel into soaring so fast? is there a trick to it? i always do the dash but you seem to go straight into soaring so quickly
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
Yeah its all about the timing and does require practice, on either the first OR second attack of Garuda, down or up poke animation, if you do shift+space right as it connects and very staccato so you don't accidentally do echo pierce and cancel soaring strike, then hit the soaring strike hotkey you get the accelerated animation. You can do it off flow intim and some other skills as well although I don't have those "other skills" down cold so can't really say how I just see it happen by chance sometimes. I practiced on dummies a fair bit and can do it a pretty high percentage of the time now as a result, it's kind of like soaring arts in the timings are just very specific and tight

@@stardawggunrocks5152thank you so so much that at least gives me some assurance that it actually takes time to do effectively, would you say it’s generally worth doing most of the time or can i just go for soaring into full moon/echo for the most part? Also how do you decide on doing full moon or echo after soaring do you prefer one over the other?

@@Senira322 no worries it definitely is a confusing aspect of the combo and you're not the first person to wonder what the hell is going on there, I wish I'd taken the time to explain it a bit better in the video but I did make this unlisted video to explain the concept to somebody a while back I can share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6jIdWuBhr5rqpI To answer your question you definitely don't need to do it it is optional. You should have time to do one of these instead without counting on an accelerated Soaring Strike animation: 1. Grab, lateral to the side, Garuda (now called Skybound Stab since a patch after this guide was published lol...) but first hit only just the "digging" motion, cancel with Shift+Space after first hit connects, Soaring Strike slow version, re-CC them with either SPACE for echo pierce, or D+RMB for White Tiger. 2. Grab, lateral to the side, Soaring Strike right away forget about Garuda, Flow: Full Moon, re-CC them with D+RMB for White Tiger. 3. If you have the Absorb: Heilang buff running or the 100% BSR buff, Garuda 1st hit cancel into Shift+Space into Soaring Strike Full Moon could still fit without the acceleration trick/timing before you need to re-CC with a White Tiger for stiffness as they rise. If they get downsmashed by Soaring Strike you probably earned time to use Full Moon in either case, and if the "accel" trick works out you probably earned time to use Full Moon regardless of whether it accelerated or not (Full Moon also has a downsmash, but don't ask me what to do if they both proc downsmash because I've never seen it lol). I am assuming that you aren't slowed, and have either the 7% or the 10% attack speed buff from skill addons up from some of the previous skills you used like moonlight strike into the grab if that's how you landed it, the garuda 1st hit cancel, or Soaring Strike itself by the time you're thinking about whether Full Moon is going to fit or not before the stiffness skill. Hope that helps some, definitely some of the clips showcasing different decision points in the combo if you watch them back you'll see me use soaring strike right away, skip the garuda or the full moon or both and even go straight for a hard re-CC instead of the stiffness depending on the situation. As long as you can get that Soaring Strike in and guarantee a re-CC even if it skips the stiffness you're in good shape for your "stuff into Beast Rampage" finisher.

Lol I could see that for sure, game basics are kind of a lot, the CC system is kind of a lot, and Tamer is one of the more mechanically demanding classes at first but starts to feel fluid quickly if you practice the movement cancels which I focused on at the start for that reason. Happy to answer questions if you got em', the Tamer discord I linked in the video description also has a ton of very useful, explicit advice if you haven't already checked it out.

i don't understand how people learn how to play these classes in pvp like this. Most of all learn how to master them. I cannot understand. Like how do u even remember all the combos (which letters paired with which letters = that 1 combo) now remember 20+ combos, cancels, s etc etc and than after remmeber ech skill and combo to the letter, react in pvp so that u apply that exact combo to win, based on what the other class is doing... this to me is mental, i find it easier to get a heart sugeon's degree and start doing heart surgery than learning how to master a class in this game in pvp. i wish they would have made pvp easier so more of us can try/enjoy it too.
@stardawggunrocks5152 Жыл бұрын
haha I hear you man the game definitely throws you into the deep end with the PvP combat and it is just another place where the saying "BDO is a marathon not a sprint" applies. Like a surgeon, you just need to take it one subject at a time and learn by doing. No one can just flip a switch and be good at BDO pvp, but that means you have all that space between beginner and master of BDO's PvP combat to express your unique skills. It reminds me a lot of skateboarding, guitar, piano, and difficult technical skills like coding or learning a language that feel natural and like they are a part of you only after the initial suffering through the steep learning curve. It isn't for everyone just like coding is miserable even for coders sometimes, but the end result of being able to 1v3, 1v5, and block ALL the damage, fly up on to a rooftop to ruin some poor ranged class abuser's day by using very precise cancels in the heat of the moment, calculate what skills you have to re-cc after you already combo'd, and how you will juke and mindgame and position to secure the CCs and bait the enemy... man there just isn't much like it I'm telling you. The price is the difficulty of learning over time, marathon not sprint, but it's doable even for boomers like me so I'm sure you could do it too.
