Mountains like that are usually long extinct volcanoes... and the bit that is sticking up used to be the "neck" where lava would flow up. So it is often made of basalt and harder rock than the surrounding land. Which is why it remains longer while the land around it is eroded away. (Yes, I took 3 years of geology at University some 20 years ago... and remember a tiny bit of it.)

Have more of this kind of mountain would definitely add a lot of interest in your area... the mountain look like the limestone formations in China (Zhangjiajie National Forest) if you google it the fog makes it look so insanely atmospheric, so having a lot of these kind of formation in your area would look impressive. When I draw and look at references as combination of shapes, things go over more pleasantly for me then focus on the details after. You definitely approach building like how some visual artist approach painting. Seeing the one pillar in the distance and imagining another 6 is wonderful but I think you could even get away with a single floating rock formation for a bit of whimsy. Even though it does look like it's still very vanilla there is almost an otherworldly peace to your area and I feel like an unapologetic floating rock island among the other spires that isn't the focus of any part of the terrain, just present, would kind of add to that feeling.

That mountain placement is perfect!! Putting right where the river bends makes it look extremely realistic. You can imagine that the surrounding area has all been lowered over time to turn into the floodplain, and the mountain, made from harder material stands strong. I don’t know if that was on purpose, but it looks really good in that spot. I love Bdubs’ cake analogy - you absolutely cannot make “decisions” when it comes to baking a cake but Bdubs is all “sometimes you decide not to make a cake at all.” 😂

Put a little camp site on top, campfire, lil tent with a bed- I think it’d be a cool spot for you to look over as you do outros so we can survey the progress of the area

Love the mountain! You should add another on the border of the forest to the yard as a natural barrier, makes sense the trees won't spread past the stone :)

A few things I want Bdubs to add. Add fairly tall trees on the bottom of the mountain but as you go up the mountain makes the trees smaller and by the top make them only 3 or so blocks tall to create forced perspective. Additionally, steep mountains like the one you built are usually formed by erosion so you could add evidence of erosion like rocks accumulated at the bottom, rockslides and loose rock fragments. Lastly, create a massive flock of birds using trapdoors for the wings and like solid blocks or slabs for the main body.

As someone born and raised on Utah, i adore that mountain. I see those all the time in south utah, though the color pallet differs XD Anyways i love it, i cant wait to see what the base area looks like with a few more added in!

That mountain looks so good. I love the shapes the cracks make and the colors look so nice. About trees on top of the mountain - I think you could do a forced perspective thing if you made *really* small trees on it. It could end up making the mountain look even taller

When I was hiking in switzerland a lot of the mountains had some kind of monument on top from the first people to climb them. (Like a cross or small statue) could be kind of a cool, small thing to put on your mountain.

Bdubs! I have an idea for you- What if you let Mrs. Bdubs play a hermitcraft or building with Bdubs episode it will be an absolute banger for us viewers and it will be HILARIOUS if you join with her commentating on what she does but not telling her what to do. Guys in the chat please back me up.❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Hey Bdubs, there's this hill in North Yorkshire, England, which I think you'd really like. It's called Roseberry Topping and it has this very distinctive shape, almost like a wave. It's a bit unusual compared to your average soft round hill and it's in the middle of this beautiful lush countryside, covered in grass and fields and flowers, there's even some woods and a moor nearby. Its shape is caused by geological fault and a mining collapse, and the mine and nearby quarry are still abandoned there, giving it some history and flavour. There's some beautiful photos of it online and I think it'd be right up your alley and maybe a good source of inspiration for your landscapes.

Something that you have to keep in mind, is that other Hermit's bases are at different locations around yours, so by doing even just a simple back of something helps a lot from people flying in from different areas
