I find a great piece of advice is to pump as if you're rowing a boat. on the down, push your arms down (lift the rowers up), lean forward and push your feet down (middle/transition from one bump to another), move them back (your hands), then repeat! basically, your arms should have a circular motion: down, forward, up, back. literally as if you're rowing a boat. your feet should be doing similar: (from a standing position:) lean forward, push down, arms extend and lift up, arms begin to bend again (elbows out), legs squat/bend

@nelson44834 жыл бұрын
You made a little but very important mistake when you explained how to pump through rollers.. When you come down you shouldn't be pushing down on the bike, since this will just kill energy, what you want to do instead is to push down and forward and get your hips behind the back axle so that you can really drive through that little downslope of the roller.. If it's unclear for anyone what i mean exactly, simply slow the video down and watch Jackson pumping those rollers, he does a perfect job at timing the push movement.. If you compare it to Christina you can already tell that he has to use a lot less force to build up speed compared to her.. she is trying really hard by putting in a lot of physical effort instead of making the right movement and timing it right, this is a mistake many riders do! oh and don't get me wrong, just because i said that she is putting in a lot of physical force and that you don't have to be as aggressive doesn't mean that riding a pumptrack isn't physical or tiring..
@pinkbike4 жыл бұрын
I could always use more pumptrack practice and Jackson lives next to that track so we aren't on the same level by any means hahah -Christina

In a flat corner you drop your outside foot and lean the bike while your body is upright. If you're coming through a flowy berm section mixed with flat corners, you may have your stance switched in some of those corners. Especially if you are trying to go fast and are using proper technique throughout. In that case, might as well at least get comfortable switched stance, if not proficient.
@pinkbike4 жыл бұрын
Because then it becomes less weak ;-) And your body won't be so twisted and deformed over time. On long descents, 20 min or so, guaranteed you will want to swap feet at some point as the legs and arch get tired.
