This artificer, a drunken master monk with brewers supplies, and a bard could make for a fun campaign to open the best tavern.

The simple fact a ton of your vids are flavored for levels 1-10 really caught my eye. I wish more creators did this as they usually have to hit level 15 or higher to start making their build real good, when they should be doing a short 1-10 build like this and then expand on it if it'll go further. You got a subscribe from me sir!

Tiny servant is an awesome way to serve food to Allies on the battlefield. And since they have blindsight out to 60 feet they can also help with knowing what is around you and if anyone is following the party to criticize your food.

This is pretty cool. When I wanted to make a chef character, I went for the Folk Hero background so I could gain cook's utensils right away. The idea was that the character saved his town from famine by facing and cooking with meat from mighty beasts that were not only difficult to hunt but also extremely difficult to prepare. He was also a Ranger Hunter whose favored enemies were beasts.

I just got this idea a few days ago because I really enjoyed the idea of coming up with cool dishes that could be able to cast spells and was just searching if it has been done before. I personally chose the Orc race because I find the idea of an angry orc that has a passion for cooking amusing. Good video btw
@stevesteveington63363 жыл бұрын
So so, I have given this more thought and what I have landed on is: He is an Orc named Taum Crooz who is effectively a paladin of culinary perfection who, through his desire to fill out his cookbook and become a great chef, he has aligned perfectly to the desires of a hedonistic deity (unsure if a good one exist or if homebrew is required) who grants him the artificer powers in order to make them into a greater chef.

As a note. Except for the "random free per day" which is the Random one. Any elixir you make with a spell slot you choose the effect when you make it. which even with the random ones, you can test it tofigure out what effect it has at least.

I went for a tiefling because I want to get fire resistance when working in the kitchen and I use returning weapon on my meat cleaver so now every time I throw it it comes right back to me like Thor's hammer. I might try to enchant it with fire so that whatever piece of meat I cut comes already fully cooked plus to give it a little extra damage.

So this is a great build idea but 90% of it is for a mechanically optimized generic artificer. First thing to do is talk to your DM about what stat will be most used with chef's utensils and prioritize that, because you actually want to be good at your chosen profession. It might be INT, it might be DEX. We take the performance skill to be a celebrity chef, but don't prioritize CHA. We also don't have intimidation. So here are my build ideas: The celebrity chef: Stat priority is CHA, then INT and DEX. Being charismatic is more important than being good. Half elf works, taking intimidation and persuasion skills. Entertainer background gets performance and the "By Popular Demand" feature pretty much makes you a celebrity chef. For the ASI at level 8 we take magic initiate (druid) to get goodberry. The exotic food chef: Stat priority is INT and DEX, then WIS. This chef cares nothing for fame, only to create amazing food with the most exotic ingredients imaginable. I'll go forest gnome with this one. 5 levels of Alchemist Artificer, and 5 levels of Gloomstalker Ranger. You can go either two weapon fighting style (scimitars) or archery (heavy crossbow with the repeating shot artificer infusion). This gets you favored enemy (beast, monstrosities, or even humanoids if you're a really weird chef), the spells goodberry, hunter's mark, and snare. The archery build should get sharpshooter as their 2nd ASI, with the scimitar build taking the slasher or sentinel feat as their 2nd ASI, although there is a case just increasing DEX.

I had pretty much this same idea recently, and wanted to make a recommendation: Rather than the Bag of _Holding,_ see if your DM will let you use the Bag of _Colding_ from Pryxis. It can only hold 250 lbs, but most importantly it keeps everything inside it chilled to about 40°F, allowing you to store ingredients you find or make with your Alchemy Jug and keep for long hauls.
@rontrobertson4 жыл бұрын
I had a similar idea, although I was considering a stout halfling (thematically, what's better than a halfling when you're talking food?) or a sverfneblin who learned to cook using Underdark mushrooms. I would also choose the Returning Item infusion so that when you throw your cleaver, it comes back. Incidentally, I had the idea before the Chef's Feat came out in UA.

i just might have to do a toriko style chef build with but with forge cleric mixed in for spells like searing smite, spiritual weapon, and heat metal. you can make your shield into a giant wok and have a battle axe be a spatula or short swords be tactical spatula like MichaelCthulhu made then make giant knifes, forks, and spoons with spiritual weapon i can see using heat metal on a guy then using grease on him to deep fry him in this own armor then throw salt in his wounds while casting inflict wounds or something or you can even make a giant bendy straw and have the bendy part be fine mesh weave and have evil straw flail that you can use to stab and let a monster bleed out the straw like in this jet li movie the black mask fight kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5eUlHqJqpeJf5Y

I think flavor wise the Mark of Hospitality Halfling would also be a good starting race. "The majority of inns, taverns, and restaurants in the Five Nations are either directly owned by House Ghallanda or licensed by its Hosteler’s Guild. ... ... But Ghallanda’s strength lies in charm and connections. A Ghallanda innkeeper hears many things-if you want to know what’s really going on in a community, talk to the halfling bartender. The leaders of House Ghallanda don’t sell information; they prefer to build friendship and deal in favors. But should a Ghallanda baron ever truly need something, they likely have a favor they can call in." Also, if you choose the background to be a house agent you gain the following handy little support benefit... "As an agent of your house, you can always get food and lodging for yourself and your friends at a house enclave. When the house assigns you a mission, it will usually provide you with the necessary supplies and transportation." You also start with the following... Ever Hospitable When you make a Charisma (Persuasion) check or an ability check involving brewer's supplies or cook's utensils, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the ability check. Innkeeper’s Magic You know the prestidigitation cantrip. You can also cast the purify food and drink and unseen servant spells with this trait. Once you cast either spell with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. Spells of the Mark If you have the Spellcasting or the Pact Magic class feature, the spells on the Mark of Hospitality Spells table are added to the spell list of your spellcasting class. Spell LevelSpells1stgoodberry, sleep2ndaid, calm emotions3rdcreate food and water, Leomund’s tiny hut4thaura of purity, Mordenkainen’s private sanctum5thhallow

About the Stats It's not realy in favor of a Chef. I'm a Chef myself and i can tell u, u dont have to be intelligent XD but strenght is very important and constitution also. The most important stat is dexterity for sure. Wisdom comes with the years (recepies and knowing how to do stuff) so depends on the age of the chef. And last and for my chef character least charisma. Believe me the sweaty uncharismatic film trope is more true than it should be. But i see as a artificer u cant make intelligence and charisma ur dump stats.
@DungeoneersPack3 жыл бұрын
Understandable and thank you for the insight! Sometimes the Game doesn't match the reality! I used the Artificer for this idea because it it is the only class that makes tool proficiencies the star of the show. A Storm Herald Barbarian choosing the Desert Aura with the the Chef feat could be another way to build this character idea.
