Hello again my friend, Machiavelli advocated Princes to go into “Beast Mode”, but only in certain situations... If you want to know almost everything I know about Machiavelli, I've packed it into a short digital book: eudaimoniayoutube.gumroad.com/l/master-machiavelli _ad victoriam_ - Adam

right and there is a big difference between ethics and morality, like the the endless example of killing or torturing one to save a hundred, always morally despicable but can be ethical at the same time
@darth_wager4 жыл бұрын
@@RedGunBullets correct but that's assuming torturing someone is the only way to save said people. Some would argue that there is a better way. If it is the only way then you're still not guarantee the subject of torture will talk. So in the end you're still risking unnecessary useless torture. Because in this situation what if the person who is being tortured does infect give up a hundred people and then they all died. Is it immoral of him if he's being tortured to give up a location? Is it moral for him to keep it to himself and die to save everyone? But what if he does give them up saves himself but then something else intervenes in between to save them all or kill them all anyway? See the problem here?

If you want to learn how to create powerful enemies, and eventually get thrown under the bus by those you consider friends, follow the teachings of Machiavelli. It should also be noted that although Machiavelli admired dictators, he never held power and was eventually exiled and died a lonely death. As a matter of fact, he wrote _The Prince_ while in exile.
@royaldarkness84535 жыл бұрын
so what you say basically is most of the lesson in this book are bad ? (didn't mean to offense, but it seem a bit one sided bias, even if what you said is real, at least the latter half, but the first half make it seem you just disregard every good part of those advice in 'the prince' and only conclude all of them as bad here ?, I'm fine if you list both the good and bad, so far it seem you only said the bad)

Machiavelli's reasoning is flawed. Men likes to be in power, power corrupts, and finally the people will start to hate the sovereign. A modern solution against this is the manipulation of the public by the media.
@javeionbelle29206 жыл бұрын
MultiMdave yes I agree but power doesn’t necessarily corrupt people .. people corrupt power, not everybody uses power for the wrong reason. Also everybody has access to power but is up to you to choose whether your going to do the right thing with it (angel-or demon)
@MDchan6 жыл бұрын
An ordinary citizen has limited choices when, the possession of power is in question. First of all money is not on his side, because advertisement requires a lot of money. Those who have a lot of money are already intertwined with the elite. The elite has two goals: To maintain their power and to concentrate it. So if an ordinary person challenges the wealthy elite, then it will be a tough political fight. Also because the elite controls most of the media, with their money and influence they can manipulate the public so that the official narrative will prevail. Because of all this, an ordinary citizen will chose to ally himself or herself with the elite (either as leftwing or rightwing), and if this person behaves well and furthers the influence of the elite, he or she will be promoted. Note that ethics and moral has nothing to do with promotion. Sometimes a person will have to do things which goes against the common sense moral, but the same act brings more influence for the superiors. The goal justifies the means. One example is Trump. He has a lot of money and personal connections. He maintained close ties with the American elite, but chose to rebel when Obama publicly roasted him. Remember how cruel was the US election? Well Machiavelli is not for mere mortal citizens. A common citizen is to work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote and consume. The elite will use mass movements for their benefit, but will try to stop movements against them. In democracy we elect leaders, but the leaders exercise power for their own benefit and the public is fed with propaganda. It is easier to have power when you are ruthless, and manipulate your surroundings. Give false promises to the people, in reality represent the wealthy few. Imagine I leave for you a coffer of taxpayers money. I entrust you to spend this for public benefit, like parks, clean streets etc.... Now wouldn't you be tempted to reward your friends with this money, so that they will be loyal to you? You will be tempted. And in fact the majority of people will appropriate some money. You see that the problem is that most people are immoral and unethical. It is not the organizational structure the issue, although it is relevant that it is efficient, reliable, but the issue is how people behave when exposed to power and wealth. I mean I'm not advocating anything like communism, because there is no alternative to private property, traditional family, division of labour but I say that those who have the wealth and power are more likely to be immoral. So how to return to a more ethical society? History shows us that this is most often done through war.
