I'm glad to hear you mention perennial rye. I need to put some out but no one ever talks about it. Gives me some confidence.

How are you watering your cattle? Do you use any free choice minerals? Maybe show your method of setting up new paddocks and moving the cattle. Thx for sharing.

We have covered those topics in previous videos but it’s probably time we did so again

Do you use any software or pasture measurement technology as part of your operation?

how many cows in that paddock and how big are the sections you put them in
@grazing365
@grazing365 7 ай бұрын
There are about 85 cows in the paddock. Size of the paddock varies with every move. Check out our video on how we determine paddock size

I’ve been listening to a lot of John Kempf videos. Do you give them frree choice minerals?

Depends on the definition. We give free choice range meal, not cafeteria style.

What are you breeding the Corrientes to. How are the carcasses on those crosses?
@grazing365
@grazing365 7 ай бұрын
We crossed the Corrientes with Red Angus and South Polls. They turned out well and fared OK at the sale barn. The key is that even though they were discounted about 10-15% at the sale barn, we were able to run 50%+ more cows due to their smaller frame size, feed mamas and calves zero supplemental feed, and the mamas cost a fraction of what conventional cows would have cost

Do you supplement with protein like J Elizondo does? Gosh he is smart, explains so much
@grazing365

Jaime Elizondo really is an exceptional teacher and source. Yes we do supplement protein at times. We do on winter stockpile and might occasionally do so during the summer slump, depending on what we are grazing.

How do you like the lowline angus x south poll cross? I hear they mature later, grow slower, and yield less meat.

I love the cross. I think the single best cow we have is that cross

Awesome. I had the opportunity to buy some pure 4-6 yo aberdeens but I shied away since I didn’t know their heat tolerance. Another question, in my stockpile half of my farm, should I go in and clip it like a foot or 18” from the ground to remove the seed heads or just leave it be completely till I graze in late fall?

I’d suggest Johann Zietsmann’s book “Man, Cattle, Veld” for those questions. He addresses those in great detail in his book. Having said that, Mashona are awfully good in heat
