Your ear is self cleaning, and the wax protects your eardrum by keeping things from getting far into your ear. If you think you have too much earwax and/or you are having hearing problems because of the wax, go to a doctor or some kind of specialist. They know what is safe and will do it for you with the proper tools and precautions. Do not try to suction shit out of your ears, it can cause a lot of damage, and do not use those cotton sticks, it can also cause damage and hearing problems.

So I actually had an ear wax problem recently, and I had to use the Q-tip to get it out. The doctor actually told me that there are specific earwax extractor kits that are better for your ear but I had to use the Q-tip I had left fuzz in my ear. The doctor amended an over the counter earwax removal kit I chose Debrox.
