My mom had a cottage here when I was a kid and we'd spend summers there. They never used to have safety rope at white side, it was scary!. The rhododendron forests were magical to play in and I fished for trout literally every day. What great memories.

Highlands will always be so special to me. I spent two weeks every summer in the late 80’s with my grandparents at their summer home up there. I still go and visit every couple of years and it is still so magical. 🏔❤️

Well, I made the 2nd video featuring all the waterfalls, but I only had so much time in town on that day of filming. The 2 restaurants and a quick drive through was the best we could do at the time.

Nice. As someone who lives here....the next time you come, if you don't want to sound like a tourist, the neighboring town of Cashiers is pronounced Cash-ers. Not Cash-ears.
@BeHereTravel3 жыл бұрын
Trust me, every where I go the locals always have at least a couple different ways to pronounce certain things. I've been visiting Highlands since I was a little boy and I've definitely heard multiple pronunciations for allot of things. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying that when you travel as much as I do it's hard to get everything 100% correct. Thank you though 👍
@carolclay70823 жыл бұрын
@@BeHereTravel - That wasn't a judgement....just trying to be helpful We always know when someone isn't from around here when they say Cash-ears.
@BeHereTravel3 жыл бұрын
@@carolclay7082 I didn't take it as a judgement. I'm simply explaining things from my pov. A person can only do so much research about a place before they go to film there and pronunciation can be very different every where you go. You're not the first to correct my pronunciation of a place and you won't be the last. It happens and it's to late for me to correct it on the video. I appreciate your insight on the subject matter though 👍

How dangerous are hiking tours regarding wild animals? Is it rather a rare sight? I imagine they are avoiding people?
@BeHereTravel5 ай бұрын
@zeincexxx1285 I've never seen a dangerous wild animal on the hikes I've done in Highlands. Black Bears are around, but they do avoid people, and they definitely avoid dogs. As long as you stick to the hikes where other people are nearby, you'll be fine.

Ive worked up here for like 20 years, rich ppl with a great view n extremely expensive unusable land. Trust me u cant afford to live here, but Piscatos is the best place to get lunch for sure! But if you're like me and love riding sport bikes and could give two fucks about a speed limit definitely go around this area because we got the best twistiest roads in the country! Check Crappy Franklin for better prices, or skip this small town crap n hit Greenville SC. Or Asheville NC if u a dirty hippy.

Sign on pasture fence says "Please do not feed the horses". The videographers blithely ignore the sign in front of them, and feed the horses anyway thinking they know better. (Without care, concern, or consideration.)

Hey man… I like your video. Very cool! However, I grew up raising horses and you should never feed someone else’s horse without the permission, especially when there is a sign on the fence you are reaching through that asks you not to. You seem like a nice guy so I am going to assume you asked for permission before doing that. Horse owners are very fond of their herds and get very offended when someone does not respect their wishes. For instance if my father had caught you feeding our horses (even grass) your visit would have ended very unpleasantly. Again I am assuming you had permission but if not, I would suggest seeking it before acting no matter how kind your act may seem. A lot of people just want to make the horse happy but feeding them the wrong or too much of one thing can cause them to die (literally). Not trying to be rude to you at all. Just letting you know since you showed a sign on the fence that asked you not to feed them but you were anyway.
@BeHereTravel3 жыл бұрын
My family and the horse owners family have know each other since before I was born. Yes I had permission.
@standunitedorfall18632 жыл бұрын
I agree. Horses can get colic, and die. Or get foundered which makes them permanently lame.
