if you want to read the article, keep reading! okay y’all… when i originally made this video, i was given a free gift article link. the link has since expired because the NYT discontinued it (im assuming it’s because this video blew up and too many people were viewing the article for free). there are some parts of my story that are still very difficult for me to talk about, so i will not (at least not right now) be making a video to discuss my story, but… ✨i ordered a physical copy of the paper and posted a photo of the full article to my Community posts on my channel✨ because i want to continue sharing our story in hopes that it encourages people to seek professional help when they need to and to continue removing the stigma around discussing mental health (even though some of y’all are wild in these comments 🙄). don’t be rude in the comments-it’s not okay. and if you do feel the need to be rude in the comments, ask yourself “why” and know that you are exactly who im trying to encourage to seek help and heal your heart. i applaud and celebrate every single one of you who has sought help or plans to. my prayers are with you in your healing journey 🙏🏻🖤

I went to an amazing wedding where the brides and groom met at the back of the church walked in together- and then the wedding party, and then all of the guests filled in behind them. There were musicians outside playing guitars, and they came in last of all. Everyone was in tears because it was so gorgeous and so touching.

When I married for the 3rd time I literally was so paralyzed I couldn’t walk in. My mom was back there talking with me and I just could not do it on my own. My dad was there also but we just had a small wedding at a family members house. Idk why ~~I literally cannot explain it~~he was and still is my soulmate 18 years later~but I was just paralyzed and in tears. Maybe the trauma of 2 exes 1 physically abusive the 2nd left me when our son was 9 months old for another woman. My husband came back and talked with me and immediately I had peace and we walked out together. He is truly the man of my dreams still to this day and we have 4 amazing sons now young adults. We married with 2 boys each and 3 exes between us. We are now both disabled at 45 and 52 and I’ve been disabled since 1 year after we married at 27 years old and he has now been disabled for 9 years and yet still our love thrives and our sons are the most amazing gentlemen any parent could ask for. Idk the story of this beautiful couple as it’s behind a paywall and as I said disabled and all we simply cannot afford to pay to read it but nonetheless I wish and pray for nothing less than love and joy and support through the difficult times as well ❤ 🙏🏻

My eight year old son walked me down the aisle 37 years ago. My husband, my son and I, lit a family unity candle. I was a single mother for those eight years. My husband adopted him months later. We walked down the aisle to "your my inspiration " by Chicago. Its like it was yesterday. We have two grandsons now. Life is great.

My birth mother did her best to help me as much as she could while dealing with the abuse my entire life until they kicked me out at 17 and she took me in. Love is thee highest vibration - the only one you can find healing in. Forgiveness, even said only in your own head, is the key to release to make space for the healing to flow in. It can't so long as anyone holds pain, anger, resentment. Just let go, no one has to carry pain, set it down to be free. The key is in our own pocket. It is a choice that we alone make. And know that whomever was abusive, harmed, injured you, was on the receiving end of same, likely as a child, by another, whom was ALSO, once was subjected to the very same - it's all carried, unresolved pain. People aren't separated in their suffering, no matter what abuse their pain stems from - it's pain no matter its label. We are in this life specifically to learn mainly two things: forgiveness and unconditional love. The very two things The Divine ONLY radiates in. Think about that: Jesus was nailed to a cross and he forgave them - he did not carry that pain with him. If HE can do it, then so can we. Align closely with The Divine and never be left behind to suffer, unless you choose to. We all have choices in this life. Chose love to make the utmost of it. Be not like those who have harmed you - it brings nothing but misery. Like energy will have no choice but to attract same. All things in this world are of frequency/vibration. Our every action given, returns - this life or the next. There is no beginning, no end, birth, life, death is like the number 8. It reps infinity. Even the, "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You" is far more than good advice, it is a warning - All Actions Return. Just a general message to help people hopefully see. I'm shooting for pain free/non suffering world. It needs a big shift bc it hasn't been going in the right direction. Every higher chosen vibration can only lift the world. If we hurt others, we hurt ourselves; pain also, reverberates. It just sorrows the masses. Keep Hope Alive. Give whatever to this world that you want coming back upon you - it will. I wish for all what I wish for myself. 🙏❤🐕🐈🐦💫💥🌱🌎

I will never forget the private moment we exchanged when he smiled at me with tearful eyes and then took my arm and walked me down the aisle. I just got married in November and I walked myself down the aisle holding a picture of my father who passed in 2021. I paused once I got to the main part of the aisle to have a moment to talk to him before meeting my husband at the alter. Just to let him know that I knew he was there with me every single step of the way. The coordinator was worried about me walking so far by myself on cobblestone, but I was determined to do it my way. Let me tell you, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when they saw me have my moment with my dad. But I was so in the moment I didn’t notice the guests, until they came up to me and said how touching it all was and how emotional it made them. It’s your moment, do what makes you happy and never forget how it made you feel that day ❤

I’m sorry did your loss…. Losing a parent is never easy and it hurts to think about like it just happened yesterday. I lost my mom at 14 and sometimes I cry knowing my 8 month old niece will never get to meet how amazing my mom was or how amazing it would be to be in her arms. She never got to see my twin sister get married or meet my BIL, I always believe my mom is there I spirit and as the surviving children the most we can do is love a fulfilled life as our late parent would want and spread the word to others how amazing my mom (your dad) was. You’re who you are today because of him and that in and of itself is an undying act of kindness from him. I know it’s been a while, it’s been 16 years for me but the hurt never changes, we learn to deal. Thanks for sharing your story. It helps others not feel like they’re the only one who on their wedding day is missing a crucial piece that makes the puzzle of life whole. My daughter got Married Oct. 4th, 2023. She and her wonderful husband eloped. It wasn’t because our family is estranged, but because she knew it would be difficult for me, as I have MS and Thyroid Cancer. Right after the ceremony, she sent me every professional pic from her beautiful wedding in Charleston. I didn’t know it, but she wore my charished grandmother’s wedding ring, who died when I was 8. She had a beautiful dress, and her best friend helped her get ready for her wedding day. They both cherished their day without the stress of a big wedding.

The day my father died I had to go to court (as an attorney ) and I was thinking about how everyone per usual was so condescending and rude from the client to the clerk to the court staff to the judge and the same sentiment - you don't know what someone is going through and I made a decision from that moment on to have empathy and try to be kind in situations that don't necessarily call for it because right we don't know what someone is going through and when that someone is you it's eye opening

I walked with my best friend and maid of honor. I didn't want to walk alone, and it didn't feel right with any of my parents - I've cut contact to my father since, and I've never came as close to my mother as I would have needed to be) My friend is the sister my actual sisters were to each other, someone I'd do nearly everything for, and maybe the only person who's opinion about my husband holds any meaning to me. It wasn't a transfer of property, but a symbol of trust that I was in good hands with him. And that meant a lot to me. I like the tradition of someone you trust and feel close to walking you down and giving you away, but it's no less beautiful to do it on your own. It's a damn expensive party about you and your partner, so you should do it like it feels right.

Congratulations xxx prior to my marriage i informed my father that he would not be walking me down the isle. I am now repairing my stepmother relationship. My sister tried to cause conflict or she thought that I condone my sister. No I went with her buy her lawyer stated facts NO MATTER IF YOU SPENT MILLIONS IF YOUR SON DOES NOT WANT TO BE WITH YOU THAT IS WHAT HE WANTS. I cut ties with my abusive father over 12 years ago. I forgave my mother because she was only 23 when she had me and forced to marry at 21. My father was 12 years older and my mom was his second marriage. He could've chosen to be better in his new marriage but alas he beat the hell out of my mom like my half brother's mom, beat the hell out of my half brothers and beat the hell out of my stepmom. It took a lot of healing and time from my family. Still not perfect, my sister still blames my mom, but healing with the time. My mum walked me down the aisle. My “father” never made me feel like his - so how could he have given me away? My mum was my all in life, my anchor, my mum and my dad. She always gave me love. I was hers to give away. Never my fathers. My mum was the only person who I had there for me. She was always at my side through life, so it was only right that she was at my side when I walked down the aisle on my wedding day. It was perfect. We both shed some tears - my mum is still my world today. Still my anchor. She’s terminally ill now. She taught me many things in life, but living without her is something I’ll struggle to learn how to do 🥺

He flirted so much with me and never said nothing I decided to go up to him and asked for his name. When I did he told me but what he didn’t tell me was that he is a married man. I wanted to curse the hell out of him but one of my parent told me those same words “ … be kind … you don’t know what he is going through …” toughest shit I’ve ever had to deal with and not knowing cause I refuse a million times to know noting or anything about what he’s going through not to be evil but to just not get involved ( I’m not a therapist or priest to be that kind ). But I honestly do pray for his success and happiness with his partner although he knows nothing of what I do for him which is to humbly pray and continue in my Life not giving him no hopes , I don’t talk to him anymore and I don’t even smile at him anymore. My parent says “… be kind!😡….” My parent says. I replied “…. I’m sorry I was kind before and was misunderstood. I am kind in other ways but I just won’t be too much human with him in terms of my words, conversation or my smiles cause I don’t want him to be confused now that I know and he knows that I know that he’s married and he did NOT tell me about her existence.” I’m thinking of moving 😊

I walked myself down the aisle. I told my dad that and he had a hissy fit when he realized that I was serious on rehearsal night. My dad was abusive and my mom is a narcissist who thrives on drama. They were lucky that they were even invited. I wanted a private ceremony but did the traditional service for everyone else. At least I had a say to not be waked down by HIM.

I fully support this, I've known people that had an abusive father who was barely in their adult life walk them down the aisle because they felt they had to or people would talk. I find that to be ridiculous. I will not have my dad walk me either even though my dad is a very good dad and is 100% in my life (and my parents still have a good marriage). I just don't like the idea of it because my dad has nothing to do with my marriage. My parents feel the same way, they always let me and my sisters make our own decisions in life and in no way feel or act entitled to being in our lives. My dad would feel very weird being apart of my wedding like that. And that's why all of us have unconditional and healthy relationships with them. My brother in law has commented on how he loves spending time with my parents because they've never put pressure on him and my sister, we're all just happy to see each other when we do things together and simply enjoy the experience.

And some people want relationships where they are equal partners and take care of each other rather than one person being the “carer and provider” (which can also create destructive power dynamics depending on the personalities involved).
