A great teacher once told me that one being unable to forgive is like drinking rat poison, and hoping that the rat dies.

I just thought you were a random youtuber trying out castor oil for your hair, but you are much more than that. You probably won’t read this but this video was meaningful to me. I was honestly having the worst few days and this uplifted my mood. Thank you. ❤️

This is a perfect message that is relevant for the current times. I've seen a lot of transformation over the years from people I know. I had to unfriend someone (on Facebook & in real life) because of what she said. She didn't say any racist words this time, but she used inflammatory language, which are words or phrases that have been used over the years to express racist thoughts or feelings that have become socially acceptable by some. The funny thing is she said it on my Facebook page first but then deleted it. I privately messaged her & told her I was in the middle of replying when I noticed & I called her out on her shit in a classy way. I didn't swear or use cap lock screaming not once. She knew what she said was wrong & out of line because she deleted it & she probably hoped I didn't see it. And I told her that. I told her I respected her as a friend for over a decade but I wasn't putting up with her crap anymore & this isn't a matter to which we can agree to disagree. I feel drained from all the drama lately but I don't regret any actions taken to protect my mental health & physical wellbeing. That's why I love your content. I don't comment often, but I do appreciate your work & viewpoint. I'm probably the antithesis of a minimalist, but I love seeing the lifestyle & it does inspire me to streamline my life & let go of needless clutter. I jokingly call it "meaningful living" because I hold onto things I have a deep attachment to. And if I give it away, it's to someone I trust to take care of it or donate it to uplift someone else's life.

Hi ShinbiBelldandy, thank you so much for sharing that. I think what you did was great, I support you in letting your friend know up front about how things she say can affect you, and stand up for what you believe in. I think if we can communicate these things in a mature way, true friendships should be able to hold up, and maybe even get stronger from these interactions. I think, our own mental health and well-being come first, if distancing ourselves from people that causes stress and upset, so be it, we can always wish them the best.

another beautiful video!...your skill is growing constantly, but you always have a good heart. :) ultimately though, i disagree that we should forgive ourselves (speaking as a man, about men). i agree with wes watson's perspective on this: STERN WITH SELF, KIND TO OTHERS. if our conscience is bringing up hard memories from the past we must experience the pain, and be present for it to truly learn our lessons. i don't ever think about my past transgressions that i have matured beyond, but i do sometimes think of transgressions that i need to work on still, and that's good. our conscience is a hook-up from our higher selves, pushing us to get better, and we must listen. if we do, then the conscience will stop bothering us because it'll be pleased with our progress. :) finally and tangentially, i wouldn't listen to a single word that oprah says about anything because she wears fake glasses. who needs to wear fake glasses to appear smart? that's the mark of intellectual insecurity and it's just sad.

I agree with you on some ways, but I think there’s no need to be extreme about it, for instance; it is really necessary that as soon as you don’t agree with one aspect of someone (you mentioning oprah’s glasses and your view on it), you disregard all the rest about them? This way of thinking, ie ‘you’re either in my lane, or not at all’ is one of today’s societal diseases. Even if it’s true what you’re saying about Oprah’s glasses, wouldn’t you say her life-story, her reflections and wisdom are worth listening to and to learn from? Please let’s try not throw the baby out with the bathwater every time. This can also be applied to first part of you comment. What do you think?

@@Esma13058 i agree that i am very extreme in my thinking, but i frankly wouldn't want to be any other way. when you start just letting things slide, then all you are doing as slipping. "baby out with the bathwater" is a clever turn-of-phrase, but is it really accurate? i am not interested in anything superficial people have to say because *how we do one thing is how we do all things*, so fake glasses means merely affecting intellectualism. imo, the biggest problem in modern society is people trying desperately to APPEAR as something rather than BE something. appearing intellectual is waaaay easier than doing all the hard reading and writing and thinking required to be an actual intellectual. honestly, i don't know much about oprah or her life, she seems to me to be just another rich person, though she's making her bucks entertaining with relative decency. that's a great point about my judgement being in seeming opposition to "stern with self, kind to others", but all i can say is you have no idea how stern i am with myself, so i am actually being kind in my judgement of oprah and others. :) peace

Hi Douglas, thank you so much for sharing your perspective! I think it's great that you have the self-awareness to know what is good for you. When it comes to these life advices, I think there's no one size fit all, what I said are mere suggestions for people who can relate :) But ultimately it's very important that everyone can identify what works for them, and maybe experiment with a few alternatives when things arne't working. Cheers!

@@TinaTomato hi tina tomato!...i always feel especially happy to hear from you. :) lol, my self-awareness might be a bit too strong, and a bit too extreme. :/ yes, i agree that people need to be flexible in both life strategy and tactics. again, always back to wes watson for me, his (and mine also) ultimate goal in life is: MAKE YOURSELF INTO WHO YOU ADMIRE, AND THEN FREELY GIVE THAT PERSON AWAY TO PEOPLE EVERY SINGLE DAY. so, as long as people are modelling themselves on who they truly admire, things should work out well...hopefully. peace
