I have to say that this is probably by far the best Be'lakor song. I saw someone comment about the Desolation of Ares being the best, and I thought about that and it just reminded me of this song. Desolation of Ares is about a war scene where men are killing their fellow man because of Ares, although he rides through the scene "unblemished and unseen." That's cool and I like the message but this song, and this album as a whole has the greatest message of all. The themes that run through this album are all about the circle of life and death. Each song and each story has a central theme, and that is that they are unaware of their own existence. They are not "conscious"; But this song, it represents a man almost coming to consciousness and to life through song. Despite that, since "To follow the river is to follow the arc" meaning the circle of life and death, and because "To drink until quenched the man did," he sets his fate to live out his own death in the next song. The best part of the entire album and my favourite moment in music in general is at 4:25 when the man is singing his song about how he's but a vessel, and but a poet. You would think that it's a sad thing, that he sees himself as only a vessel and nothing more; Except that in the next song, after the man meets his demise by being burnt alive, the embers of the fire flow back into space where it all began at the beginning of the album. I just hope that other people see the masterpiece of this album as much as I do. The themes, the lyrics, the imagery, and of course the music. All of it just blows me away, it gets better every single time I listen to it. TL;DR Having a nerdgasm over my favourite band

Thank you for this comment. I've listened to this album dozens of times in the past few years but it wasn't until recent that I sat down to read the lyrics and everything you've said is exactly what I love about this album. It's so well thought of. It deserves more credit for sure.

@@themagicgoblin580 they've said that this was their hardest album to write and produce because they had to make the rhyming, story and music continuous, but you wouldn't know it from how masterfully it's done. im glad other people out there appreciate their music as much as I do :D

Do you still think the same after coherence? After a ton of listens, I believe much more was lost is their best job at the moment

This spoke to me with such intensity, that I can only post after my third playthrough. As someone fighting "failure to thrive", The imagery paired with the lyrics and the music, this hit me in the absolute best of ways. Musically there are peaks and valleys of intensity, Lyrically, there is a sense of struggle, strength, acceptance, and focus. This is my first intro to Be'Lakor, and this was phenomenal. Thank you to all who took part in the production of this.

I've been playing this song nonstop for the last 3 days. It touches deep in the soul and it's absolutely one of their masterpieces. I can't stop saying : "But a vessel, alive, For a time, I would thrive, That was all, Nothing more lay below it... But a vessel, adrift, Not a theft, nor a gift, That was all - But a pulse, but a poet"

@@SkepticalZombie as much as i like vessels, im glad that the new album wont be a concept album as its limitates the creativity a little bit: Each song and the lyrics must fit together in a certain way. With standalone songs this "problem" doesnt exist

Been too long they were aiming for 2019 release for new album , hopefully they are being fussy for perfection, Wintersun are like that never rush an album till it’s perfect
