Hey James Awesome and really insightful video. I thought you punching yourself was hilarious. I keep a distraction journal (inspired by Indistractable by Nir Eyal) which really helps me to realise when I'm doing a bad default action. It helps me to reflect on it at at the end of the week and see if I can maybe plan around it next week, so that I never have to revert to my default action. Have you every tried something like this? Thanks

Nice! I'm a big fan of Indistractable. Once in a while I like to keep a "Captain's Log" (aka Interstitial journal) where I literally write down everything I did during a day with timestamps. It helps me notice patterns and default actions.

You were talking about visualizing. I gave this limiting belief that I can't concentrate enough to visualize. I give up immediately. Any suggestions ?

Hi Ellen, I recently learned that not everyone can visualize like this (google aphantasia). It's not a problem at all! Instead, you can try 'practice runs' of your new action. As an example, when I wanted to stop snoozing I would literally practice jumping out of bed. I'd set up an alarm for a minute, lay down and pretend to sleep, then get out of bed. Then I'd repeat it 10 times, kind of like a basketball player might practice their layups.
