This morning (Thurs 6/2/25) I spent time at Malcolm Harrison auctions at Prees, Shropshire, as several interesting vehicles - including a clutch of BMW 6 and 7 series, a tired Morris Minor Traveller, and a much tidier 1950s Bedford - are going up for grabs this coming Saturday morning, 8th Feb.
The Malcolm Harrison auctions usually deal with modern trucks, vans, trailers, plant and related heavy equipment, but every now and then sometime old comes along, and yesterday I spotted a few interesting restoration projects that deserve to be rescued, if only for parts, so plans were swiftly drawn up to head over today and video the older items going to auction. It was a very interesting visit. The video was edited as soon as I got home (a bit of a rush job but I wanted to get this up on KZbin asap), and published the same evening, Thurs 6th Feb.
I have no idea which vehicles, if any, have any paperwork or i.d., so I'd recommend before even thinking of bidding, please contact the auction house directly (link below), where you'll also be able to find out about fees, auction terms, that kind of thing.
I'm featuring these restoration projects for interest only, not necessarily as a recommendation to actually bid on anything! I have no links to the vehicles featured for sale, or indeed the auction company. Caveat Emptor and all that.
The BMWs are as follows:
Two E23 7-Series saloons, for spares/repair, very do-able.
Three E24 6-Series Coupes, one is very rough, the others might make one decent car with a lot of work. Many useful bits there.
Plus:
Morris Minor Traveller, a lot of work but do-able in the right hands.
Ford Sierra XR4x4 incomplete bodyshell.
Range Rover.
The 1952 Bedford is in a lot happier condition, and probably quite rare kitted out with its Scammell fifth-wheel coupling.
A quartet of old-ish trucks - a Volvo, two ERFs, and a Foden, also feature in this auction preview, as do three airport fire trucks, various crawlers/diggers, and a fascinating wooden railway carriage (Russian) mounted on an ancient, solid-tyred chassis.
Comments welcomed as always! Let me know if you'd like to see more auction previews like this. This was all a bit last minute, normally I'd try and get to pay a visit with more time before the auction actually takes place.
A big thanks to everyone at Malcolm Harrison auctions for enabling me to put this one together.
