Things going right, when they are supposed to go wrong - haven't we all been there? :)) Really a very nice PC case. Do the front fans draw in enough air through only those side openings? -edit: a mesh front might indeed be a good idea.

Hi Mike, all my parts are arriving this week for a brand new build with the Pure Base 500 and I just found your great build video. I'm curious why you bothered to move the existing 140mm rear fan to the front and then put the same size 140mm fan in its place. Do you need more control on the exhaust fan (4pin vs 3pin) vs the intake? Also, I notice the next version of the Pure500 has been announced with a mesh front.....it's good to hear that BeQuiet! is listening! I would have liked to wait until they start shipping in March, but my Valve Index is sitting here staring at me and wants to play. ;-)

Lol yes the fan has more own control and the two in the front are matching pair so can be used on a cable splitter without having rpm issues. I was also pleased to see the mesh version announced looking forward to playing with that one ☝️ Hole your build goes well. Let us know how it goes either here or in the Saturday live streams

Nice build, I'm getting this case for my upgrade, just a quick question: Why did you take out the back fan and put it in the front? I thought you had purchased an identical 3rd fan?
@mikesunboxing
@mikesunboxing 4 жыл бұрын
the fan i bought was the 4 pin pwm version and the front two are 3 pin and i was planning on using a fan splitter so this would remove any possible issues over mixing the 3 and 4 pin models

Nice views of the case details in your build review, thanks. I am awaiting delivery of my PB500, so seeing how you put yours together helps a lot. I noticed the supplied 140mm silent wings fans in the case are 3 pin, not PWM 4 pin (the new silent wings 2 fan you put in at the rear is the high speed PWM). Do you see any difference in the speed or noise of these fans (although you said you can't hear anything from any fan)? What was your thinking in buying the replacement rear high speed PWM fan? I ask, because I'm a bit concerned about cooling my X570/3900X (air cooled) and NVMe SSD, and RX5700XT (XFX THICC 3) graphics. Maybe will buy 2 more 140 fans, to make 2 at front and one in rear and one in the top (exhaust)? Maybe this is overkill unless I overclock, which will be limited with air cooling. I like silent running. Like other comments below, my current ASUS fan controller is all over the place. Spins the fans up to high for no reason short burst, but not whilst gaming? New ASUS X570 board (TUF Gaming) has Qfan in BIOS, so will use that and not install the controller software.

@@mikesunboxing The case already comes with Pure Wings 2 front and back ( Two preinstalled Pure Wings 2 140mm fans ) So what was the reason for taking Pure Wings 2 from the back and unboxing and then installing the same fan? I wish you'd test Silent Wings 3 PWM, though, with this case.

I found the Asus AI Suite and Fan Xpert software terrible to use. One minute it would appear to be working fine, the next the fans would be sat at idle with the cpu overheating and shutting down. I really wanted it to work as the option of switching fans off at low loads would have been really useful in a htpc. Alas, despite trying it again when a number of updates came along, I gave up on it. I uninstalled it and used the bios to control the fans, making use of the temp probe header on the board to control intake fans. If you haven’t already, try uninstalling it all and see if it helps stability of the old pc.

Nice looking build Mike. I finally found a case I like better than the Lian Li 011 Dynamic. It's the Lian Li Lancool 2. Gear Seekers did a 3950X build in it yesterday and it was love at first sight. You could have solved your fan problem with a couple fan controllers that plug straight into the PSU. I have 9 fans in my system connected to two controllers and the system is running fine. I see you have a Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ in your build. Nice card. I have the 570 version until I upgraded to the MSI 1660 ti Gaming X. I'll soon be upgrading that card to a RX 5700 Power Color Red Devil so I can play racing games on my 3440x1440 @100Hz ultra wide monitor. That's a lot of pixels to push, and the 1660 ti is struggling to keep up.

Oletta - for curiosity, why did you go the R9 3950x route? I made the jump to 3900x because I wanted to make the jump to R9/7nm core, and thought that just keeping 8 cores was redundant. (I bet Mike is really jealous now!) :)
@OlettaLiano
@OlettaLiano 4 жыл бұрын
@@skystalker7700 I didn't go the R9 3950X route. I was just telling Mike about a 3900X build I saw Gear Seekers do in the Lian Li Lancool II case that I"m going to buy when it's on sale. I went the R7 3700X route. The 3900X would be awesome, and $750 is not out of my price range, in fact I bought a new guitar over the summer that cost twice that much. I just can't justify buying 3950X for novel writing, watching videos on KZbin and Amazon Prime, and playing games like Dirt Rally 2, Need For Speed, and Minecraft. LOL

I was about to give you a bad time about not replacing the Cooler Master in your first b-roll (see 4:30 minute mark) then I was going to ask why the heck you put the metal plate on top of the case that would block off all your airflow for the AIO (see 4:35 minute mark) - then I saw later you had a mesh top. Did the mesh top come with the case, or was that the extra?

After having just re-built my R9 3900X in the Pure Base be quiet! 600, I wish I had seen this video last week. The 600 is fine (very quiet)... but cable management is a nightmare. I purchased an extra 140 mm fan for the front due to poor airflow - Mike is spot on suggesting they have a mesh option for the front. I believe Pure Base 500 case is a much better option. I don't hate the 600... just more money (extra be quiet fans are expensive) and spent hours for a reasonable look with required cables.
@mikesunboxing
@mikesunboxing 4 жыл бұрын
Some of the b roll was borrowed from another version of the video so excuse my editing there 🤪 The mesh top and solid top are both included in the deal so you have the choice of either setup. The cooler master aio is a bit of a pain and sounds like someone slurping a straw under load so it had to go. I bought four of them as they were at reduced price but now I see why. I’m considering returning all of them as them seem to be poorly made and even at £22 each they are a little worrisome

Hello Mike, what are your thoughts about Fractal Define C TG vs. this BQ beauty? I just can't decide between those two, l hope that you will help me choose. I am all about silence, design and build quality, temperature is not important to me since my setup isn't for gaming, it would be business PC? Cheers!
@mikesunboxing
@mikesunboxing 4 жыл бұрын
Toughest choice i can think of. Both are very similar but ultimately I think the 500 just edges it. Price difference would be a big factor to separate the two. And also the fractal is slightly narrower and more compact

@@mikesunboxing Thank you very much. And what about silence and build quality, are those two close, l really dont like wiggling and poor quality materials. In my shortlist was NZXT h500 TG with those 2, but l've heard that build quality can't match with fractal by any mean, so l remove that option and now l have those two. Problem is l can't look or touch them by myself since there is nowhere to buy these models in my whole country, so l must decide this way. Thanks for review, it is very helpful btw
