Thank you for posting this. I knew Bea but lost contact when I returned to New York more than fifty years ago. She was every bit as sweet and lovely in person as the voice you hear here. As far as I know this is the only record she ever made. My copy, unfortunately was literally played to death. It was heartwarming to hear this again.

Lynnette, your aunt had a lovely voice! I had this CD in my hands today but I couldn't listen to it in the shop, so I snapped a picture and found this video once back home. I'll be right back in the shop tomorrow based on this song alone! Videos like this one are usually put together as a labour of love by a fan and intellectual property rights aside, they're a fantastic way for the artists to be discovered anew by fresh generations of fans.

property rights are aside here, there weren't any. My cousin Marlene and I are the only remaining relatives on our side of the family and we learned it would cost so much to fight for the rights we just decided that whomever hears her sing is the fortunate one. :)

Bea Abbot was my aunt and she was so so talented. I'm just wondering how this was put on youtube, although it's wonderful that others can hear her . I have the albums and separate cd's redone to play with current technology.I'm wondering though who put this on youtube? anyone?

Not much money coming from KZbin. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ended up working in a bank. Not that there's anything wrong with that. So did singer Jennie Smith.

Her husband, my uncle Leon Ruby , trumpeter and VP of the Chicago Musician's Union became very ill with Parkinsons disease and she worked to help out until she took complete care of him at home until he passed away. she continued at the bank until she , too, became ill and I flew to Chicago to see her the day before she died.

Lynnie: I think we have talked about this before. Rick has told e about her but I had forgotten you were related. Another point of relating, my Father had and died of Parkinson's. Miss you.
