Mix sounds weird. The guitar is noisy (large frequency band that stumps on everything) but liked the muted segment and how it rings out in the end. Her voice has an absolutely lovely clarity yet it sounds a bit muffled (distant instead of in your face).

It's because there's only 1 guitar that's why the guitar in the mix wasn't hard panned to the left it's off centered. That's also why ur hearing more of guitar than bea herself. It's the typical live mix panning. I heard also bea's voice not having enough compression to pop up more.

This would've been a great cover if her voice wasn't overwhelmed by the band. This reminds me of Lana Del Rey's break up with your bf cover, where the backtrack was too loud, except she tried to sing above it. Singers shouldn't have to adjust to the band, when the mixing is supposed to adjust the band to the singer.

That is exactly what I was thinking as well... The sound engineer was on vacation this day (or was stoned out of his mind). But the singer/band did themselves no favors in picking this song; the original singer (Vanessa Carlton) is so much more energetic, even in a non-rock version of the song she does sond better. I still love beabadoobee original material though.

This specific "sound" reminds me of when friends covered the song when I was at school. Like I'm not sure how they managed to replicate that feeling exactly but its incredible. Maybe its the muffled guitar or just keeping the audio levels very natural. Either way, its a great sound!
