Great video! I might suggest a set of fenders that will help keep your drive train cleaner and eliminate kick up spray when riding near the water.

You want to be careful cleaning the drive train and avoid getting slippery stuff on the rim. I deal with a lot of sandy stuff so after washing the drive train, i spray it with wd-40 and wipe it down really good before putting just a bit of chain lube on. Sand and salt will eat up the chain and derailers. Sand will also reduce the life of the rims with rim brakes.

Very good point! I am careful of the overspray. I use one of those blue lube/clean tools with all the brushes inside. Is that the best approach?
@jim48593 жыл бұрын
@@KayakhacksFishing Probably better than what I do. I just get some soapy water and a brush and clean the whole bike, drive train last then rinse before lubing. I probably have a shortened chain life (my last chain went about 2K miles) but I think I'm protecting the chain rings and rear cassette.

Great tips! Thanks Steve! I’ve been planning on fixing up a bike to haul gear for a few miles up and down our river trails. I’ll be using some of these. 👍👍 🚲🎣

Question: is it difficult to pedal the bike on the sand ? Do you air down the tires ?

He did a couple of videos on this. Going to go get them and paste the URLs in. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp7LhYKoibCli9U and m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIPNoYeKpblmb80 If I recall, they didn't have too much trouble on hard packed sand, but did have issues in the soft stuff. That's been our (my wife and my) experience as well. There is a wide variety when it comes to beaches. When we hit the beach on St George Island, FL, there is almost no hardpack until you are nearly in the water (100'-300' or more of soft stuff easily). Nearby on some areas of Cape San Blas beaches, there is enough hard pack for multiple cars. You mostly have to know what's available where you are going.

Hard pack was no issue. The dealer I bought the used bike from was a beach fisherman as well. He said as long as the tires were 2+ inches, you are good. He did recommend airing down a bit. I do not do that since the sand is so hard at low tide here.

You keep fish?
@KayakhacksFishing3 жыл бұрын
I never keep any freshwater fish. I do keep the authorized one redfish per day when my wife and I want to have some fish for dinner. I never keep flounder given the depleted stock here in NC. Also, never keep sea trout or bluefish.
@Queenbits3 жыл бұрын
Do you bring a cooler to put the fish in or a bucket I seen one of those backpack coolers, red redfish be kind of long.
