I don’t want to sound corny or anything but when I first ever heard beach house, their music quit literally saved me, I never felt like anyone or anything could make me feel the way these songs make me feel. When I was at the time in my life where I was too overwhelmed and was on the verge of loosing it, but I found this musics and the beat and the sound of these musics helped me see the reason to keep going, my reason is to keep finding good music to help me and help other people’s too. I've noticed, any, music that's been "slowed", "base enhanced" or "reverberated" becomes even better - like Crystal Castles, Ofdream, and obviously Beach House - there are so many more - you get the point. It usually originates from some faster-paced electronic music; but, everything about a song, from being slowed, automatically changes everything (It works the opposite way as-well). I've been saying, that maybe bands should try this technique for themselves - sort of a B-side recording. The music, then, starts to sound as if it's; gliding aloft, has more depth, a warmth (I can't articulate), of some different time, and each songs "meaning" becomes organically transformed into another world. I use to do the same thing, by speed-up or slow down different music, but, not at this level. I'm so impressed. Many of the songs, I've listened to, have an "underwater" quality and the only other band, that, can naturally do this, are the immortal Cocteau Twins; who, pioneered the Dream-Pop, Ethereal-Ambient, and Shoegaze movement from way, back in the 80's and 90's. Waves of never ending ripples, of, cascading reverberations take down your defences and melt into a pool of wax.
