BEACH OPTIONS GUIDE - PERFECT DAY at COCOCAY with Cabana info!

Come along with us to Royal Caribbean's newly renovated Perfect Day at CocoCay! This is Episode 004 of our Perfect Day at CocoCay series and highlights the beach options available on the island as well as all of the cabana options with their cost and what is included! This video provides a detailed full overview of all the beaches on the island and the cabanas available on each.
This video highlights Chill Beach, Lagoon Beach, South Beach and the Oasis Lagoon. On Chill Beach is the Cabana Cove Cabanas, snorkeling equipment and the snorkeling area, the Straw Market shopping as well as the CocoCay Logo shop, the water sports area, the Chill Grill, several bars, the Snack shack and several rental options. On South Beach are the Beach Bungalows, Beach Beds, the South Beach bar and the floating bar. The Lagoon beach is in the middle of all the action as well as the Oasis Lagoon with it’s swim-up bar, over-water music, underwater music and more!

All of the excursions were cancelled due to weather on our port day, but we still had the best time! There's so much to do without excursions. We snorkeled off the beach and found a "sunken ship" and tons of fish!

I am totally binge watching your vids..These are great and so informative and helping me budget my money.Your camera is as crystal clear as the waters ...Im shock for May that its not jam packed!!! The weather could not have been better for you guys..Do the have paddle boarding there as well? Also can you pre book thing here like cabanas etc. or when you arrive..So many questions i know...P.S. The weather was awesome! There was only one ship at CocoCay that day (Mariner) and everybody spread out pretty well on the island so it wasn’t crowded at all except for the tallest water slide which had a 1.5 to 2 hr wait! They don’t have paddle boarding but they should add it! They have kayaking and jet skis though. You can book a cabana ahead of time (which I would recommend since they go fast) through your cruise planner. (PS: nope, not a cop...)

Great video going on the Mariner in November this video really helped . I hope the weather is nice enough to enjoy a perfect day at Coco Cay ...Did you do the hot air ballon excursion.

Thank you so much! We were there on the Mariner too!! You should have beautiful weather in November! Still warm but not super not and towards the end of hurricane season. We did not do the Up Up and Away hot air balloon simply because there were so many other things to do on the island and we honestly didn’t feel it was worth the price of admission they were charging when we went. It was $40/person for a 20 minute ride. We instead got the 1/2 day waterpark pass for $18/person through an email deal Royal sent us after booking.

Awesome! Glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I would say that if you want shade without spending extra for a cabana or covered daybed then either Chill Beach has or the Lagoon Beach since they have a lot of chairs with umbrellas for free. Lagoon beach is a little louder so if you want peace and quiet and to relax then I would say head straight to Chill Beach. The North end is super quiet but it is away from everything including the food options so you will have to take a quick walk to get a bite to eat or find some chairs on Chill Beach closer to the Chill Grill or Snack Shack! Hi, loved your videos! I think we would love the South Beach hang-out area. We were thinking about renting the day bed but can’t find the difference between the day beds and the cabanas! Can you reserve in advance? First time on Royal, thanks for the help!

Yes, you can reserve in advance through your cruise planner through Royal Caribbean. The day beds on South Beach are pretty much just that, covered beds on the beach for up to four people with amenities. They are tour code ZH29. The bungalows on South Beach are covered sectional sofa type seating area with chair and amenities for up to six people. They are tour code ZH28. Hope this helps!! Have a great cruise!!

They do make you wear the yellow snorkel vest. We actually talked about it in one of our other CocoCay videos (the Island Tour) and we actually have a link in the video description to the snorkel vests we have to buy on Amazon! Thanks and have a great time!

Yes, that was true however Royal Caribbean transformed South Beach into the Coco Beach Club which is a limited access for an additional fee. It would still be the best for less crowding and alone time though!

Question Were the Oasis Pool Cabanas where you just walk up to them or was it a secluded area

They are arranged around the edge of the Oasis pool deck so not very secluded. I think some of the cabanas may have had some curtains that you could close for some privacy but that limits the area of the cabana significantly.

How much is it for admission, if you just want to go to the Chill side, and not in the Thrill side at all?

Admission is free to the Chill Side! There are things that have a fee (snorkeling, kayaking) but it is free to enjoy the beach and the majority of the food!

The Coco beach club has an additional fee associated with it so if the South Beach swim-up Bear was open I would do that one for sure! The Coco Beach Club is supposed to open January 31, 2020.

Yes, we purchased ours on Amazon and brought them with us. You can dive down for sure and you don’t have to keep it inflated.

South beach has actually turned into Coco Beach Club now as RC continues to develop the island. I think the thrill water park has advantages with the admission but I am sure Coco Beach club is amazing! It all depends on what you are looking to do for the day and what comfort level you want on the island. You will have an amazing day no matter why!

What would be the best beach for someone who uses a walker? Walkers don't do well on the sand. So what beach has the least amount of sand to get into the water? Thank you!

I think Chill Island would be the best. It is closest to the ship and also has those “water bike” style wheeled chairs that work on the beach and in the water. They are typically right over the bridge when you get to Chill Island from the ship.

St. Maarten is a bit different for sure as there are no beaches close or within a short walking distance to the port. The most popular beaches are Great Bay (closest to the cruise port), Simpson Bay beach and Maho beach which are right by the airport. Maho is famous for the airplane flyovers people love to video! All of these would require transportation or a shore excursion to get to.

Similar to St. Maarten, St. Thomas doesn’t have a beach near to the cruise port. There are many beautiful beaches on the island but all will need either transportation or a shore excursion to get to them. As far as beach wheelchair access I think the best option with the most public infrastructure would be Magen’s Bay. It is a beautiful beach with vendors and music and such. Sometimes they can be a bit pushy but you can get that anywhere in the Caribbean. I would think this would be your best bet for ease of access / support for walker / beach wheelchair access.

They are not required but we found that walking all day through the paved areas and in the water park was hard on our feet. The walkways that are in the sun (in summertime) were a little hot and I did nick my foot on the corner/edge of the pavers and took some skin off. This is especially sensitive for diabetics and those who have to take special care of their feet.

I just did some research as to why you couldn’t pull up the beach bed reservations and it is because Royal Caribbean unfortunately closed South Beach on 7/9/19 to start the next phase of the Perfect Day renovations that will turn South Beach into the “pay for access” Coco Beach Club that is supposed to open by December 2019. Sorry for the bad news... the only similar option you have are the other cabanas around the island. The Chill Beach cabanas are pretty quiet and relaxed similar the the South Beach bungalows and day beds.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... half the people say Cay and half Key. Native Bahamians say key but I am not a native. Chalk it up to my “Florida” accent I guess but I definitely think CAY has a better ring and rhyme to it especially with Perfect DAY at CocoCAY and CastAWAY Cay... To me Key (like the Florida Keys)=key and Cay=Cay.

I would have to agree. You do get a few amenities but probably not $399 worth. The only exception are the Thrill Waterpark cabanas where you get (6) full day waterpark passes included with the cabana...

It would appear then that I’ve been ripped off Royal [Caribbean] because I paid $999 for a Chill Island Cabana about 45 days in advance of our cruise. Are you saying that they sell them for $399 once you arrive on the island? This is making me very unhappy! Thanks for the great video, and let me know your thoughts on what I can do now...
