Hold up. She nanny-cammed her husband while she was at Summit. Because she “didn’t trust him”. And she built her business “out of spite” and just ditched her husband and kids without an explanation or a “thank you”. This is not someone I would want as a mentor.

A. Hi! B. I'm glad I perused the comments bc I heard this, and was a little wary but then it just washed over my head as I kept watching, and I ended this video thinking, I kind of like her as a person. This comment was a good cold splash of water in the face. I am wondering if I would still like her if she wasn't in an MLM though. Sometimes some of the huns do catch me as people I'd like if they weren't eyeing every personal interaction as transactional.

Man, I was part of Beachbody as a young new mom (years ago) and I couldn’t understand why I kept getting dismissed from the challenge groups. I now realize it’s because I hated the shakes the first time and then refused to buy them the next time. I was like “You are helping me and motivating me, I am working out and doing all the thing except that! I have different shakes I like, whats the big deal?!!“ It was years later when i realized it was an MLM and I wasn’t being a good little customer by not buying shakes. The point wasn’t being in a “support group.”DUH. 🤦♀️I legit thought it was just a workout support group and tried TWICE and then got booted for “negativity “ about the stupid shakes and was super perplexed both times. I wasn’t making anyone the added income so they were just dumping me for people who would buy the dumb shakes .

The only goal that ever terrified me is the one I just completed. Four years ago, I was terrified to go in and tell my boss I wanted to go to law school because I knew if I said it out loud, I would have to go through with it. He's the managing partner at the law firm I work for as a nursing paralegal. I told him, and my voice was audibly shaking. I kept putting one foot in from of the other, and I will attend my Commencement Saturday. It is the hardest thing I've done, but I broke it down into bite-sized pieces. If I knew everything that went into it at the beginning, I probably never would've applied to take the LSAT. But I only have one more thing left...passing the bar exam next month :) These people in these MLMs drive me nuts. They seriously act like they are changing lives...ugh.

In America we have this pressure for everyone to be doing great all the time. It causes a lot of people to feel like they're wrong for not being great. I see "It's okay to not be okay" as a phrase to take the shame out of not being okay. It was a really important moment when I finally accepted that it was okay that I wasn't okay. It turns "I didn't finish what I should have" to "I did what I could and there's only x amount left for later." That switch actually makes it easier to finish more things more often. It also relieves the shameful feelings.

1:01:48 i learned THE EMBARRASSINGLY HARD WAY- why NOT to ask those types of questions when public speaking 🙈 I was speaking in front of a big audience and was taking about different types of love and how a mother’s love for her children is incomparable (in theory, right?!). I asked a few mothers who I knew had many children, “Who is your favorite child??” And most of the mothers said “I don’t have one: I love them all differently yet equally”. One mother, however, thought about it and said, “well, out of my 5 kids, my 2nd son is my favorite. We get along better than with my other children and I really feel a stronger love for him”. 💀💀💀 This was years ago but the cringe of her saying that made me realize ok, not all moms share the same sentiment I believed this whole time AND…at least she was honest?? 🫢🫣 3 of her 5 kids were there so it was….very uncomfortable. Random thought about the not asking about money: one thing I’ve learned to let go of is thinking it’s taboo to be talking about money in the workplace - the people who want you to thinks it’s rude and impolite is the people paying you - a fair amount of employers are going to try to pay you as little as possible so it’s nice to try and shift the culture to talking about money to make it harder for them to short change someone - a girl with twice my experience and had been with the company longer was making $2 an hour less than me (the only difference between us we could tell was she wasn’t white) and so us talking about our pay actually helped - boss wasn’t too happy though 😂 Sorry for the small rant and idk if it makes sense but I think it’s a conversation worth having - though the people asking KZbinrs how much money they make is a different situation because it’s more out of curiosity or like jealousy/concern because for some reason people still don’t understand content creation as a job 😂

Having big goals for success can scare some people. I used to have it when i was younger, and found out its really common with people with ADHD. It is associated with rejection sensitivity dysphoria. It can manifest in one of two ways: Perfectionism and tends to turn someone into a people pleaser and that pushes to overachieve, or their fear of failure and rejection puts them into the "I won't succeed, so what's the point of trying just to fail and look like an idiot". I was on the "why try" spectrum when I was younger, but as I got older, found myself in the overachiever side.

Not sharing your salary really only benefits companies, honestly, but I think a lot of times it comes off as bragging which is why it's impolite? It's not really something I'd bring up in normal conversation, but when raises and bonuses come out at work you bet your ass we're all comparing wage cards to make sure no one got shafted.

I commented this! It’s super important especially for influencers! I stumbled across some threads of black women with more followers than a white influencer on tiktok were making like less than half than the white woman. With more followers and engagement. It’s important to talk about wages in the proper setting! And some people genuinely are curious!
@theBestElliephant2 жыл бұрын
@@kyleeguthrie1787 Oh that's a good point, I hadn't thought of it in quite that perspective. I'm a female engineer so it's something that's always kind of in the back of my mind and lowkey why I started asking coworkers lol but for people who don't necessarily work closely with other people in their field, more public data to use as a benchmark would be super important. I also appreciate it when public figures choose to share information related to topics like this, not just to call companies out but to show when companies are doing the right thing on their own so we can support them. I also understand that it's something people might not be comfortable sharing, especially if they do have a bigger social presence, so I don't think there's anything wrong with people asking for or sharing that info, but I don't wanna pressure anyone into feeling obligated to post about it. I think Chelsea mentioned a range for what she charges for an ad read in one of her videos a bit ago kind of as a tangent to a hun saying they make soooo much more than normal content creators, so it doesn't seem like she's trying to avoid the topic, I think it's probably more the way the question was asked in this case than the subject matter of the question.

I follow a few KZbinrs who have done videos on their income and it’s so interesting! I love that they break it down and show what they get from video views and then from partnerships. I do think it’s important because these are the jobs of the future!

talking about how much I've made from brand sponsorships would be breaking the contract and NDA i've signed with each of the brands I've worded with. I have been open to a point about how much I have made in order to help other creators. However it's still no ones business in casual conversation to ask me about my income.

My aunt is a person who sometimes just out of the blue send me message like "have a good day", "greetings from my balcony", "this is mu breakfast and coffee" and its kind of weird. I know she just want to stay connected, send "good vibescand so on, but it weirds me out, i have no idea what to write her back! And its my aunt. So imagine how i would feel if some stranger from internet would start to randomly send me messages like that! :D

I think if you are friends with a fellow influencer, it’s ok to ask how much you made for some sponsorships. Because brands tend to pay minorities and women less even though they have higher engagement/views. I work in banking. I used to never tell anyone what I made. Now, if asked- I answer because I’ve been screwed over many times by not knowing what my peers make. Edit- typo

One of my main observations about "hunspeak" is this: the rapidity and frenetic rhythm of their speech is incredibly jarring. If you go to professional presentations, such as those for businesspeople or civic leaders, you find the pacing and cadence used by the speakers is vastly different. With the huns, there is a kind of desperation that seeps out during their presentations that ultimately undermines their boss babe act and outs them as people grasping at straws rather than people in command of a business.

When it comes to the phrase "it's OK to not be OK" I understand it as a way of ensuring that it's OK to not be happy all the time. It's OK to be grieving at any point in your life over something that happened because it was such a negative change. It's not OK to constantly and only think about the positives and the silver linings and push the negative feelings out because we have a human right to feel our emotions and essentially handle them. Not acknowledging the "bad" feelings that we have is not going to do any good for our mental health. And so many people like to say things like "well then go see a therapist" not realizing legitimately how privileged I was privileged you have to be sometimes to be able to do that. Mental health isn't always seen as something that is covered on health insurance. Sometimes people it sometimes people need to physically get in to see a therapist face-to-face and they can't do they can't do lower cost virtual therapy on things like better help.

So I do the Beachbody workouts, and I went in with the intention of only doing the workouts with this company. I signed up in March under my cousin and I did my own thing when it comes to nutrition and gave away the initial Shakology stuff, then canceled everything but the yearly access to the workouts. There are a million other options for protein beyond those awful shakes. I've had great success and like the workouts a lot (but also do my own thing outside of these, like lifting, yoga, and walking). Yesterday my cousin replied to one of my recipe IG stories and told me how great of a coach I would be and blah blah blah. NOPE. Love you but HELL TO THE NOPE. For $100ish/year I save money by working out at home and I eat a well-balanced diet and I do not need any sort of "coaching career" thank you very much. What kills me is that she quit her F/T job to do this and is deeply into it - I don't know how many people she has in her downline but that seems like an awful thing to do. She posts multiple times a day about what she's eating, zoom workouts with other ladies, team calls, and even meditation and journalling videos. It must be exhausting to have all of this on display for all of her friends to see. It's just so sad - I hope she's at least breaking even but I kind of doubt it since she's approaching me to coach. Yikes Krispies!
