As someone who grew up on the beach (Northern Gulf of Mexico), I can tell you to enjoy every moment of a space that beautiful. All beaches are not created equal!

Great life lesson on maintenance burdens! Less is more! Everything you add to your life requires attention at some point. That being said; I think a didgeridoo mounted to your hood would be a great addition to the Jeep! Also , still waiting for the boomerang 🪃 lesson!!🪃 Be safe and stay well!👍

Great to see more of Katie on camera. She was very discrete in previous videos. Good job driving and filming Katie. Love the drone shots too. Oh and the sound of the engine reving. Wooo 👍🏻 cheers from 🇨🇦

Great philosophy on gear. My favourite part about sand is a stock 4wd will usually outperform on sand simply because of weight and how it robs momentum.

Looks so much like the south western coast of South Africa - then I remembered Port Jackson bush was imported years ago to stabilise the sand dunes.

Those sand dunes are beautiful and that looks like the perfect spot to setup camp and hangout at, cook up a meal and get a little bonfire going. Speaking of bonfires, are they legal in South Australia and would having a fire on the sand dunes be considered alright?

Sand flags break a lot at the flex point near where it attaches to the car. My mate just uses a fishing rod that he ties to a block of wood on his roof rack. It's cheap and nasty but it has never failed where all of our whiz bang flags and attachments eventually snap. Long flags off the bull bar can whip around and bash the car when it gets rough going.

My mate used a beach rod, and a pair of red jocks tied to the top. Worked well, good for a laugh and a conversation starter.

Tip steep angle beaches are very soft at water you drive at the top and don’t drive on the big sea weed patches as they are like quick sand

Love it! Some real off-roading. Sand isn't my favorite being from Florida. Very hard to judge. You did well considering you're way heavy with relatively small tires. Good thing it's a Rubicon and fully locked or you probably wouldn't have made it. I need a Katie that cooks for me like that while overlanding! She's really cool.

Great vistas. 👍 For your sand pole, How much would you think the placement of the mount or location, plays on the kinetic energy that broke the pole off the base? If any. I'm just remembering how sitting in different places on a Rollercoaster can effect how much I was whipped around. Always enjoy your positive take on things and how you look at what is truly needed even if it's for comfort vrs practicality. I see a delicious Overlanding cook book in your future 😋

Dude, you have to disable the traction control when you venture on to sand. It's a day and night difference making the Jeep so much more capable. Select D and hold the brakes. Then press and hold the traction control button until it says ESCOFF on the dash, about 5 to 8 seconds.

Hi Dan. Nice Video. I took my Gladiator the first time off-road last weekend to Fraser. What Gearbox settings did you use in those dunes in the soft sand? Part 4wd High or did you go low gear? Thanks

Haha, we do! When I'm flying Katie is driving, and I often peek over to see if anyone is coming on the other side of a dune or crest. It's really handy to just say "Nobody is coming", then Katie can concentrate on climbing the dune and not worrying about oncoming vehicles.

I watched your "why" video just before this one. You said about petrol/diesel, you said you like diesel, and so do I. But the. You get bogged on the beach, and when you drove out over the traction mats, you fang it and get out, that's the pros right there of a petrol engine, the diesel would have not been as effective there in my opinion. That being said, I drive a tuned V8 turbo diesel, with bulk torque. Even it needs to come on boost before it'll power up. Petrols dominate the beach.

I really don't want to roll a tire off the bead, so I slowly lower the pressure until I have the grip I need without going so low I risk that.

@@TheRoadChoseMe I understand your fear, it’s a general miss conception across Australia 4x4 and it’s not rooted in truth. In my Land Rover Discovery 2, I did all of Fraser for 2 weeks on 33’s at 10psi while towing a dual jet ski, single axel trailer that was at 8psi. Never got bogged, never rolled a tyre. No erratic sharp steering inputs or harsh braking and all was fine. I used less fuel, auto gear box fluid and EGR temps were much lower.

I follow "The Story 'til Now " and try to imagine going the same place on a motorcycle. The wading depth is generally not as good on a motorcycle and even with chains I'm not sure if the motorcycle would do as well. I like Ronny Dahl's "plastic" panels, but if you're adding ,why not remove some steel.
